I know Patterdales are not recognised by the Kennel Club, but they are still a working breed.

Would you like me to write you a breed description for the website?

Thanks
Francesx

This is Walter!

And this is Bean!

They are the same breed apparently!

This is Bean's full sister! They are all Patterdales.

Now I am beginning to feel in a muddle about this breed!

Bean looks like she's carrying a fair share of Welsh Terrier genes!

Seems like Frances144 has forgotten his offer. Its a shame as it would be nice to see what someones interpretation of this cute breed would be.

Have a look in the Terrier Questions section and you will see a definition of a 'Patterdale'.

IMO Patterdales that are not stocky look the best. Having read loads on the breed it is difficult to define what is the perfect Patterdale. But I think that is what makes them so interesting. You say your dog is leggy, could you post a photo so we could all have a look. Im sure she is just adorable.

Patty's are difficult to pin down I have had two first is Winnie she was from a gamekeeper, hard as nails and with a mind of her own. Short legged, solid body, short but coarse coat, chocolate points, huge teeth and big attitude. Winnie would give a warning growl and if they didn't back off then boy did they know about it.

Not the best picture but she was never still

Molly on the other hand is more of the deluxe Varity, longer legged, smooth shiny coat and sweet natured. Not too sweet natured with other dogs but we are working on that. She is dark brown with a taupe colouring on her pants and one back foot

She wants affection all the time and this is the major difference between the two of them. Winnie had everything she could want from 6 weeks old she never knew hardship or lack of affection but was a BAGGAGE   Moll who knows what she has been through and she is an

If you look on the Patterdale Terrier UK Main Page which is:-

www.patterdaleterrier.co.uk

There might be some info on them.
