Has anyone noticed that the suspense seems to have gone a bit from Crufts? It seems that a lot of people were expecting the Tiebtan to win and this seemed in part based on the fact it had umpteen challenge certificates. I know that when it comes to the final 7 for best in Show, the judge is comparing each dog against its own breed standard. So just say six of those dogs had ten CCs each and the seventh had 100 CCs, that must mean that the 7th dog had, on 100 separate occasions, come very close to the standard, a record that was ten times better than the others in the line up. Surely a Best in Show judge is going to be influenced by statistics like that? Or does he/she not consider a dogs past performance when judging? |

What does CC stand for? I don't know how a judge can come to a descision anway as they were all so beautiful but I did guess it would be the Tibetan. |

CC is Challange Certificate 'Brown thing with handlebar moustache' was a Griffon Bruxellois. They were bred from the terrier-type doglets that hung around coaching inns to keep down the vermin, to create a toy/companion dog. Saturday was so crowded! I didn't buy much at all. My highlights of Crufts 2007 have been.... 1st Place: The Irish terriers. Especially the one that peed up his owner's leg in teh ring (no, she didn't notice!) 2nd Place: Watching a head-on collision between a Welsh T and a Kerry Blue. You should have seen the dogs' face. If looks could kill..... 3rd Place: Has to go to Ben Fogle, for calling Peter Purves 'Peter Pervs' 4th Place: On TV last night, Mr. Purves himself (what a legend!) He was sitting next to Claire and Ben with his 'I'm a TV presenter and I'm listening' smiley expression as CB wrapped up the section. As the camera panned back, it was just possible to catch his face changing when he thought he was off-camera and he rolled his eyes in a way that said '*&&^%%& amateurs!' 5th Place: The deerhounds and the borzoi, for their amazing feat of turning their Discover Dogs pens into chillout zones amid all the noise and bustle. 8) |

 I wonder how many people had their legs weed up? At least I know it happens to the professionals as well as me  Missed that look on Peter's face, bet it was hilarious. Thought Claire did well but Ben was hopeless  |

Well, I havent had a chance to see much coverage of it yet - briefly watched the final bit last night just to catch what won but that was it so far. Im exhausted today and wished i'd taken the day off work. I was also a tad put out last night, as Peggy seemed to have forgotten who I was when I got home! I think dad did too good a job caretaking whilst I was gone :D She wouldnt cuddle up or sit with me until he'd gone up for a bath - so I was an obvious second choice  Mustard however was as loyal as ever and promptly plonked himself on my lap before i'd even had a chance to sit properly! She did change her tune this morning though and was back to following me around whilst I was getting ready for work - I almost brought her to work with me she was looking that cute   It was great to see the few of you I managed to speak to! I was rather busy on the stand and spent a lot of time behind the tills on the floor making up goody bags - so apologies to those who couldnt find me! I think Paula was the only one lucky enough to get a cup of coffee, but I was really the lucky one as I got some cuddles and a kiss of Duds, aswell as a piccie with him  (i'll post them up tonight Paula as didnt get time last night!) Overall I had a fab time - fell in love with the Norwich Terrier - (Norfolks a second close), and although it will take at least a week for my feet to recover, I'm glad I was there for the full 4 days. I actually didnt spend a penny as I didnt get enough time to shop (prob a good thing!) but I did catch the judging of the overall Norwich terriers and the Dande Dinmonts which was fab to see. Oh well, all back to normal! Oh - I wanted the bloodhound to win, but Willy is a little lovey too  |

I was very taken with the Dandie - think in many years to come  when I need to start looking I may just consider one. |

Well when you're ready Lynne, you might want to take a peek at The Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club. Looking at some of their photos, I realise to my shame that I had the same hairstyle back in the early 70s! |

Just read through the thread and it sounds as though everyone who went enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately on Wednesday whilst negotiating a steep bank I sprained my ancle so Davey and I weren't able to attend the breed stand on Thursday. It made me smile (through gritted teeth!) reading comments on how cruel dog showing is watching Davey's reaction over the past couple of days - he knows the lead up to a show and even though he wasn't being shown himself our preparation was pretty similar. He'd been working himself up to his big day out and it never came but was trying to get out the front door, excitment levels were high etc - he definately feels like he hasn't been to the ball! Would have loved to have seen the Welsh and Kerry going head to head as long as it wasn't my Welsh RJL! Enjoyed watching the four evenings viewing, thought Mary Ray's routine looked tired. Loved the Otterhound and have to say, if I was ever tempted to have a big dog I think that's were I go looking first. Wished the Bloodhound had won, don't know enough to say whether it was the best on the day but enjoyed her owners expression when she won the group so much I wanted to see a true David Goliath ending. Wire Fox, for me, didn't have the impact of last years Reserve. Only real gripe was the insistance of the commentators calling the dogs Crufts Champions - got my goat everytime. |

I didn't think Mary Ray was as good this year either. Found it quite boring really! The Bloodhounds owner looked totally shell-shocked
 Hope your ankle is feeling a bit better :stroke: |
