Hello! I have acquired a 5.5month old Patterdale called Lewis. I need to think of a name for him to register him for agility. I'm really struggling! He was previously owned by a friend of a friend and it's a bit vague as to why they didn't want him any more. He's as soft as muck but not the brightest button, bless him. Please help!! :P

Would this be like a normal registered name? Our dogs name was chosen by the breeder which we didn't find out until we got all the paperwork sent on. Or do you mean you can just choose a name from the start? If so, presumbably you'd want a name that suggests qualities needed to be a good agility dog? Can you give us some examples of the registered names of current agility hot shots?

If he's particularly fast it could be Hendrys Call-Me-Carl, as in Carl Lewis. I'm floundering - what were the registered names of the dogs who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Agility at Crufts this year? Just need a couple of examples to get started....

Thanks for the suggestions. Islay ( my terrier bitch) is called Tinker's Loss (we got her when she was abandoned by gypsies!).
One idea for him is Eleven Pence Ha'penny (he's not the full shilling). It's so difficult as when you pick one you're stuck with it for life! My fiance's (who likes to think that Lewis is his!) nickname is Edge (his surname is Edgington) so we were think about maybe trying to encorporate this in the name. Please keep up the suggestions!

So difficult to choose
Lewis apparantly is a Teutonic warrior - does that help or hinder :P

Great ideas. I like the idea of over the edge! Lewis didn't appreciate the bedwetting jokes though. He's a sensitive soul! :P
