Can anyone recommend a good shampoo for Paddy as he is nearly out of Sebocalm and I refuse to go to the vets again due to cost.
Preferably as natural as possible I hate all those chemicals!!

:thanks:

Sorry to plug Dorwest herbs again (honestly, I'm not on their payroll!) but they do a shampoo containing Pennyroyal that is supposedly very good for sensitive skins. Has a menthol aroma too which is cooling for the summer and unpleasant for fleas and ticks.

Costs from £4.60 to £18.60 depending on how big a bottle you'd like; the biggest size is 1 litre but you can dilute this with water to make 2L. Very gentle and can be used on puppies and kittens from 8 weeks of age.

I am trying out a new one at the moment - Epi-Soothe. It seems to be having a good effect on Pete's itching but then that could be down to the fact that the weather has cooled down and the pollen count is low! I bought it on line through www.vetuk.co.uk (where you can read all about it) and it cost £8.49 with free postage. It is supposed to help protect the skin even after you have rinsed it off - hmm we shall see!

The website is www.dorwest.com and I'm sure there will be contact numbers and addresses so you can establish what it smells like! Actually, why not ask for a free sample?

Sky - I noticed someone on Dog Pages talking about a seasonal rash that her dog always got just on his tummy and she ended up buying some newborn baby sized cotton vests from Mothercare to act as a barrier between the dogs' skin and whaterver it was that was causing the rash - just passing it on!

i use groomers shampoo's and can reccomend the evening primrose oil for sensitive skin. The products are natural and the added bonus is they smell lush.

Hmm, thanks for that Pam  I did actually get him a Black and White Stripey doggie T Shirt when he came out of hospital because I was worried that he was going to itch his wound but in the end it wasn't necessary. I am not sure that I am brave enough to take him out in the park wearing a Black and White Stripey T Shirt (or even a Mothercare vest) Oh, and he would probably need some booties too because one of his paws gets red too    Can you imagine what all his friends would say :err:

On the very rare occasion that Billy has to be washed - normally I just rake him. I use that shampoo. Also I use it myself as I find its the only one that dont give me dandruff :-)

No problems, Sky - past posts of mine do kind of let on how much I hate clothes for dogs. But that's just my opinion - each to their own & live and let live! The important thing is for little Peter to feel comfortable. Must be really frustrating for both of you - him because it itches and you because if you knew what caused it you could sort it out!
