In Sept/Oct Peggy and I will hopefully move from the beginners class to become full members of our club, and I hope to start entering her in competitions. However, she hasnt been measured yet and I dont know how I go about doing it. Apparently we need some book, she has to have a photo and her microchip number or something...can anyone help advise me on what I need to do? Thanks! |

Peggy will need a Agility Record book from the Kennel Club. If you go on their website they cost £1.50. You will need to decide on a competition name for her. If she is KC registered you can use that name and you will not need to put her on the activity register. If she is not KC registered you must decide on a name for her. Again go on the KC site and download the Activity register form. Complete and send off (please read carefully the section about dogs names as they can be a bit fussy at times!) Once you get her name back, you can look at getting her measured. She will need either a microchip, tattoo or clear photo in her record book. Fill it in before you take her to be measured, it just saves time. The next problem is finding a show that has measuring. Look at the agilitynet website forums or post an enquiry. You may need to travel a little way. Once Peggy is measured, you will need a second measure in a years time. The two people measuring, will explain all that to you. Hope that answers your questions. I also have to get my new Border measured soon. Paula |

Thanks - she's already been KC activity registered and had no issues with her name so thats fine. I'll order the book and then see about where we can get her measured! - looks like we might have to go to lots of dogs shows...what a shame  :D |

Have a look on the KC website for a list of measuring sessions - Measuring Dates. If there is nothing near you it may be worth contacting your local measurer (measurer contact details) to find out if they are doing any measuring sessions in the future - not sure how old Peggy is but don't forget that she has to be at least 15 months old (unless she's obviously large) before she can be measured.
