I always get confused about this, I know my dog is old enough but I try and get other people doing agility and they ask me how old they have to be, i have a feeling it is 18 months, is this right?
Does it depend on the different breeds, for instance I have heard labs need to be older due to their hips?

They have to be 18 months to compete but as you say depending on the breed and the dog you can start training them for agility a soon as you like. When they are tiny you can teach directional commands and as they get older and stronger you can bring in poles on the ground. It's best not to jump full height jumps until their body is fully mature which can differ greatly from breed to breed and dog to dog.
