Start working on a really solid WAIT command plus try to start teaching left and right commands. To do this sit the dog in front of you facing away from you and throw a treat/toy to one side and as they go towards it say left/right depending on the way you've thrown it. With the wait you need to be able to get about 20 feet away and be able to jump up and down, wave your arms about and the dog not move until you give the release command such as Go or OK just remember that when you are talking to your instructor you will probably be saying OK alot  so perhaps something else is better. Oh and when you are out in the wood encourage your dog to jump over things and get them used to you saying OVER or JUMP or something like that. |

I tend to use 'Go' and 'Over' with Peggy and I prob sound like an idiot in the forest shouting 'Over!' whenever shes off jumping over things - but she really does understand over now ... although she really hasnt grapsed left and right yet  Think i'll try your suggestion on that Paula! I do try when shes out to shout left and right when we change direction - but doesnt seem to be sinking in :) Well, hope all goes well and im sure you will both enjoy it! Theres a few of us on here at various stages of ability - im fairly new to it myself - so theres always advice handy :) |

Kellie the one thing I would say is get the vet to check her hips before you start as GSD's do sometimes struggle with the jumps if they are a bit weak, you could try lots of road walking to get her fit too. |
