i too saw this guy touch the dogs with his foot as a quick flick and knew instantly he wasnt kicking the dog but i also would think there will be idiots watching this who will misinterpret it and kick their dogs.theres a lot of stupid people out there and you can explain that it isnt a kick but a touch to remind the dog and they still wont get it!
He also uses this method to distract a dogs focus, clearly is not a kick. There are some clips from his shows on You tube plus some stupid comments regarding 'that bloke who kicks dogs' obviously people not paying attention properly to what he is saying and doing!

It is so refreshing to hear people actually saying that he uses common sence and good basic leadership techniques. I am sick of (albeit non terrier) people making him out to be some kind of magic man! Don't get me wrong, I think he's very good and has the patience of a saint with some of the owners, but come on guys, most of it isn't rocket science. If more people adopted his methods, there would be a lot less stressed dogs and owners, that's for sure!

I am a huge fan of Caesar Milan and the dog psychology he uses to turn around difficult owners and their dogs! I know what you mean, though about some techniques being abused by the wrong owner. There is a guy who I have seen a few times, locally, pavement walking his chocolate Lab. I see him doing the touch with his foot thing and pushing his dog down to submit. It looks awful. The dog isn't mucking about on the lead but the guy seems to do it as a matter of course.
I signed up for regular email bulletins from Caesar's website and I get very excited when I see that he's emailed me! ;)

I just got the book to apply to my 3; his shhh-shhing technique works wonders on Jill who is lead aggressive. Nothing but praise for him- I don't even have to call my 3 much these days.... this is a blast from the past! Whatever happened to Mr.E?

I am too busy working my dog to bother with cable or sat TV - but from the bits I've seen/heard it's like any other set of ideas: bits work for some people and some dogs and bits get misinterpreted.

Why do we constantly try to re-invent the wheel and turn dog training into something akin to a high-skilled science? It isn't - get over it :P

Hello RJL- Yes I am back!

Sadly Jill; since her RTA; has been very lead aggressive and is now at a stage where unless she is off the lead when we meet other dogs she attacks both my dogs and the other dogs when they approach.

I have used Ceasers; SHHHHH-shhhhhhing with much success so far and am aware he isn't every bodies cup of tea. But when you have rescue dogs; you do what you can to help them.

Nice to see you all.

Spoken like a true member of the "tut & nonsense" Pastoral Group ....... ;)

Keep meaning to give Phil/Mr E a call, one of these days I'll actually sit down and do it!

Yes, it would be great to welcome Mr. E back here! I'd love to know how Billy is doing

Dill is obvioulsy leading me astray - into the dark recesses of the pastoral mind :yikes:
The most embarrassing thing is I think I am getting a pastoral-owner's voice! I told him to 'sit' in a very firm voice this evening and every dog on the field sat
