didnt' go too badly! She's been a bit off her game the last few weeks as she was out for 2 weeks with her op - and it was only really last Tue night and her class on Saturday that she seemed to get back into it - sooooo - I was quite nervous about what she would do yesterday! Anyway - we did jumping first - grade 1-3 combined, and the only things she didnt do were 2 tunnels - 1 cloth, 1 normal - but she did the 3rd tunnel. However - she was soooooo excited! Never seen her like that before but it meant she wasnt totally focused on me and kept barking at my feet :) Did the agility in the afternoon - again combined 1-3 and it was a slightly easier course - she started off brilliantly and was really fast.....we got over half way (at this point i'm thinking.....oooooh we may actually get a clear round in our first show!!!).....then we get to the weaves (which she'd done fine in the jumping in the morning), and she just ground to a halt halfway through (there were only 6 aswell!) and then she turned her head.......and ran off towards the exit. Didnt even flick an ear when I called and just went out the ring and sniffed a little Cairn that was stood there waggin its tail  Then she just stood there and waited for me to go put the lead on her  Sooo - I guess not bad for a first show but keep going through it in my head and have come to the conclusion that I slowed her down too much on the seesaw (as she has been jumping off the side lately), and then there was a jump, then the weaves - I think i'd lost her really after the seesaw as she only did the jump halfheartedly, and although she did her weave entry I had to really coax......I think she had realised that after the seesaw where I used my fingers to slow her down and make sure she hit her contact....that there wasnt actually any food in my hand...she had been tricked!!! so why should be bother to do anymore ? Gotta love em havent you :D   She really enjoyed herself though which is the main thing. |

yeah - chatting to my mate who comes with me and we are thinking of taking video camera next time to film each other, as its easier to see where you are going wrong on film than just have people tell you. At the bigger shows they have photographers there so in future may be able to get a nice one of Pegs 'in action'. |

Well done! Thats brilliant! Brandys first comp she bit my trainers and was growling at my feet etc the whole way round, she went under the jumps, missed all her contacts, and was generally very very naughty lol, so id say for your first comp that was absolutly fantastic, congratulations :yay: |

thanks! I think i need to wean her off the expected treats - she only gets one at the end of a course - but I occassionaly still have to use one to lure her through the weaves. At least its winter season almost so not many shows - so we have a good 6 months to get those weaves right and get her confident on the seesaw. Really looking forward to training tonight! We are doing the C side show in Nov and will be taking a video camera with us then - so hopefully will have something to show you guys. Migth see if I can get something shot when we are training one week otherwise. |

Well done with your first show. I have a trick I use with mine, you can only get away with it once a show though as they are not silly  As you come up to the seesaw make a big show of prentending to take a treat out of your pocket, you have to do this well enough that the dog thinks you have one but not too well that the judge thinks you're getting a real one out. Have a word with the judge before the class and tell them what you are doing and why and they will usually be very supportive and will remember what you said. |

I was thinking about something like that but was worried judge would think I actually had a treat - will remember that next time and have a word with judge beforehand. She was awful in class on Tue - didnt get a chance to walk her first to wear her out a little, so she just went nuts for the first half, then wasnt at all interested in the second half :D |

yeah - its quite funny to watch and everyone laughs - but not really what you want to happen at agility class! She was much betterin her class yesterday. Took her out jogging for an hour Sat am before class (- I was totally knackered even if she wasnt!) and then we went for another hour walk with my friend after class - needless to say all 3 of us slept really well last night! |

Peggy has had an awful last couple of weeks, and Sat was the worst. So, after class I felt really down and a bit depressed about it all and ended up with a headache. Had almost decided not to bother anymore as she really didnt seem interested any more. Anyways - had some tips from lynne to help try and keep her focised - and last nights class - she was truly fabulous! She went the fastest she has ever gone over the dog walk I had no chance of keeping up with her - and she was focused on me all night. Had a little incident with the seesaw where she forgot she was on it so when it hit the floor it bounced back up and the noise scared her....so she wouldnt go near it the rest of the night and kept running away from it. Hopefully she will have forgotten that by next week  |
