Looked after Joe/Bailey/Barnabas the lurcher yesterday (he was my first ever foster dog) and his new owner told me about this amazing whistle that simulates the sound of a rabbit in distress. He bought the cheaper one of the two as he thought it was probably some worthless gimmick.

On a recent walk near Danson Lane, Barnabas spotted some swans and wenr searing away in hot pursuit. Expecting nothing, Alan blew his whistle and....EUREKA!! Dog squeals to a halt, turns tail and zooms back without as much as a backward glance at the birds.

Can't recommend it as yet - though I'll buy one myself and let you know, but who was the TTer in Orkney who was having worries about her rabbit-obsessed dogs hunting in sheep fields?

That's the one!! Thought she might find it worth trying but then she would need to be with the dogs in the first place so maybe not :err:

OMG, please buy one, tell me where to buy one and tell me how you get on.

Things are getting very bad now - we had a phone call from a disgruntled neighbour and we are tethering the worst Patt now.

Thanks for thinking about me. Appreciated.

Oh Frances sorry things haven't improved. You have no choice but to keep him tethered now unless you can safely fence in an enclosed area - and it will need to be high fencing. :err:

Just wanted to add my little bit to this thread,

I bought a 'rabbit' whistle the other day for my errant patterdale George, and so far its worked a treat! We used it at the beach and in the park beside the beach today with great success. I don't want to over use it though in case he gets bored of it but want to use it enough that he is still excited by it. I astounded a couple with a doberman today when I used it to call him back, he stopped dead and ran straight back even sitting down in front of me. Sounds more like a duck to me though....?? well, whatever works....
