I'm not sure this qualifies as working... Since toy fox terriers were bred as companions, maybe so! My two littlest ones, Olive and Baci, have three jobs. They go to work (high school) with me and hang out with the kids as they read and discuss. They work with me at the Farmer's Market every Saturday, selling doggie biskies, collars, and notecards. They do public appearances as the "Ambassa-dogs" for the Sanctuary. I know its not the same as working as hunters, but they like it...and they work cheap! :yay: Posted Image |

Awww, if you insist [she says with her arm twisted behind her back]! Posted Image Here we all are at the Farmer's Market every Saturday morning, selling home-baked biskies, hand-painted collars & notecards. Olive is in my pouch in the front, and I am holding Baci. Ahhhh, can you see how hard they are working? :D Posted Image This is Baci in one of the toy baskets, making sure the toys don't run away. Brave boy! (Note the smile on his face!) More to come as I find them... |

Oh wow - dogs with jobs! Don't you just love them???! And I bet they draw the crowds in too. Please keep the photos coming - I could look at these dogs all day  One thing that puzzles me a bit - you work, cherish all these lovely dogs and STILL have time to produce home-baking goodies and hand-painted dog collars? Which week of the year you do finally succumb to sleep?!! Edited by piwoodhouse, Jul 23 2008, 10:11 PM.

yes this definitely counts as work!my friends have a tool and hardware stall on our local market and they have a jack russell girl called lucky and she supervises eveything thats going on and she wears a little black jacket with SECURITY on the back!i think we ought to have more piccies though in order to make an informed judgement! :D |

Sometimes I wonder how it all happens, but it does! Most importantly, I couldn't do it without my amazing husband. It's a matter of planning, mostly. I have really learned to do more than one thing at a time, like reading school texts, petting dogs, and eating lunch all at the same time! We have the thirteen dogs (in the house) and the horse and kitty in the barn. Dan handles the barn chores, and I feed and medicate the dogs, both twice a day. I am half-way through graduate school, and will have my master's degree in May 2009. So some evenings year-round are spent in classes or doing homework. September through June, I teach full time. Evenings during the school year, I correct papers, plan for the next day, make the notecards, and paint the collars (all usually with a couple of dogs on my lap!) In the summer, I teach summer school in the mornings only. Graduate school is in the afternoon and one evening a week. Homework is done when I can, and Friday is eight hours of baking biskies whenever I can fit it in - sometimes late at night. Saturday mornings in the summer are for selling at the market, afternoons are for yard chores (we mow about 7 of the 40 acres so the dogs don't have to fight long grass) and four-five loads of dog laundry (bedding, etc.). Sundays are for my laundry. I like to cook, so most evenings, I cook dinner for the hubby and I as well. Needless to say, once I sit down, both hands are busy on the computer and/or petting pups. Somehow it all gets done. Lots of pets and praises are given out just moving about through the house. I don't remember what it's like to move through the house standing upright - usually its petting and talking as I go! I'm sure, though, that it's not that much more work than the rest of you - I don't have kids to add to the melee! |

Jodee I don't know about anyone else but felt exhausted just READING that!!! And I hadn't factored in the fact you're doing a degree too....you are one multiasking supremo, that's all I can say. And an angel, probably - just because I still find it hard to believe a human being can acomplish quite so much. You're a credit to the human race my dear. |

 Wow. Angel is definitely not the word I would think of! :hyper: But thank you, just the same! As I tell people when they ask, "I do, because I can. Everyone does their part, and this is mine." :flower: |
