Went to Blue Anchor today which has very large pebbles on the beach initially which are quite deep.Daisy collapsed her back legs walking on them, she did the same thing last time we went but I thought she may have trod on something sharp as it went away after a few minutes - not today :( She simply couldn't walk on them at all,her right leg splayed out behind her and she started panting.I carried her to the sandy area and she was fine,no limping,no favouring the leg at all but soon as we hit pebbles again same thing happened.Fine on grass and sand but a real problem on pebbles. As she's not in pain I'm not taking her to emergency vet,may call Tuesday. Does this sound like it could be the patella? Anyone any ideas? |

Poor Daisy :( Yoyo is actually the only dog I've had that will walk on pebbles! Holly would point blank refuse to walk on them, as does Hamish. I just put it down to being sore on their feet. If I have Hamish on the lead and try to walk across them, he sits down and gets quite stressed. I end up carrying him  |

We've been there loads of times and never had any problems, will be a real shame if we can't go there in the future as it's a favourite place to visit. |

Oh dear Daisy, somethings amiss as she's not had problems before :( It could well be that her legs don't have the strength they need for walking on pebbles now seeing as she is fine on normal surfaces  |

Can't imagine why she'd have a problem walking on pebbles, I wonder if an animal chiropractor might have any idea as to why? |

Vet couldn't explain it.She does have a slight weakness in that knee but he didn't think the backward splay would come from the knee. She may have had some minor hip pain which was aggravated by the different size/shape stones but which on her normal gait on a flat surface was OK.Will take her back,if she's the same I'll have it investigated further. |
