I watched the Panorama programme last week, which highlighted the problems with inbreeding - a problem which is endemic amongst breeders of pedigree lines. Apparently dogs with congenital diseases and illnesses are walking off with best in shows.

It was sad to see the narrow minded attitude and blinkered responses of the kennel club officials to concerns raised by the TV people.

How these poor dogs are made to suffer is dispicable.

It's a big subject and one that is controvercial, but what are your opinions.

Personally, I think the whole show thing is very strange and has more to do with the vanity of the owners and the greed of the industry as a whole.

There's a thread current and full of opinions called something like Are the BBC going to ban Crufts?.
