Laura you can buy books and dvd's that help with grooming or you could go to college. Jade is doing an animal management course at college and she does grooming on that. They also do a course at night but they are so difficult to get onto as they only accept 6 people at a time. I enquired about doing it but they had such a long waiting list that they said they were not taking anymore for a while. My groomer is mobile and she said that once she was qualified and felt comfortable she started advertising and her business took off. :)

Laura check out the groomers in your area - quite often they run training on the premises (not particularly cheaply either) but it's a good way of getting your hands on a lot of different dogs and building your confidence up. Alternatively check out City & Guilds courses on the net.

Equipment will set you back a fair amount - basics would be grooming table, arm or H frame, good scissors/thinners, 2 pairs good clippers (need two because they get hot very quickly!) full set of blades(just that alone isn't going to leave you much change from £1,000) before you even get to the brushes/combs end of it.

I've thought about it a couple of times.
