  Don't be too hard on yourself - somehow I don't think yours can be the only terrier that connives his way into your bed of a night! |

He's been good for the past few nights - he's been getting an extra walk in the evening but I don't think I'll be able to keep up three walks a day when the holiday is over and I'm back out working. I like him in the bed as in the mornings he is really relaxed and floppy and I can do some ttouch on the bits he doesn't like being touched. He went from not letting me even touch his mouth to allowing me to lift his lips to check his teeth in a few days. I want him to get his KCGC Gold and he has to have his mouth examined! Along with other bits. Once he's used to it in the mornings he's better in the day. He will even let me fiddle with his nails when he's on my lap now, although approaching with the clippers is still a big cue to run off! We'll get there.. |

Well he and you are to be congratulated as together you've come such a long way already. KCGC Gold is something special - and a distant dream for most terrier owners I'd have thought! |

Someone in the class with a Border Terrier is working for her Silver. She told me that she didn't think she'd get it as her dog wasn't placcid like Fred. I wasn't amused. I hoped taking Fred as far as I could would inspire other terrier owners, but it seems to be having the opposite effect - 'I could never do that as I don't have an easy dog like that'. :x: |

Brandy sounds the same, some nights she's fine, then she has a spell of going every night for a few days, there's no reason for it as she gets plenty of walks. Must be the change in her life at the mo with Twig and like you say Pam, my mood with getting a new job maybe. Edited by Nic, Apr 14 2009, 08:52 AM.

Fred has sadly been moved into the kitchen at night. Where he was clean. :ermm:  I had some sickness and the runs go through the dogs early in the month, so he was moved downstairs because he couldn't hold it in. Since being downstairs, even after the virus has (finally) fled the house he's weeing and pooing every night. Completely ignoring the newspaper and puppy pads all over the place. I'm half convinced it's a separation issue, as he'll poo indoors if I go upstairs for more than about 30 mins even if the back door is open, although he'll only do it if he hasn't had a walk, and when he was sleeping upstairs he would go downstairs and poo in the hall. One night I slept downstairs and he was clean all night. So really have no idea what he's doing. Sadly since the illness when he had an accident in his crate overnight, and then again a couple of days later in a car crate he's lost all inhibitions about crapping in his crate so I can't crate him overnight now. He's also had his tea time changed from 6-7pm to 4-5 and that's made no difference. So I'm afraid he's now having to sleep all on his tod in the kitchen. I didn't want to bring him back upstairs after the illness as I'm sick of him waking me up to bark at noises in the garden. I've been very busy working extra shifts and earlier mornings and I can't cope if he's keeping me awake. Now I don't want him up as I'm just sick of cleaning up his mess. I don't mind 'accidents' (even when Beauty was also ill and flooded the kitchen with unpleasantness) but that's not what this is. |

It was going well, most nights completely clean, but last night he not only pooed (on a puppy pad, hurrah!) but appears to have cocked his leg on his bed. It has been a busy week for boarding, BC went on Tuesday evening, followed by a chihuahua arriving 30 mins later, then yesterday I picked up two boarders (one of which he walks with most days) and the chihuahua left. So got to be a stress thing. Especially as one of these boarders is a little devil so I'm telling her off most of the time. |
