Help, help, help... For my wife and myself this feels like the end of the world… One of my Jack Russell’s (Jack who’s just five years old) had a fit a couple of weeks ago. He didn’t black out but foamed at the mouth, fell over, and generally lost the plot the whole event lasting no more than a couple of minutes and I believe it’s a petit mal seizure. We took him the vet who basically said he’s as fit as a butcher’s dog and we should wait and see if he had another. Now this Sunday he had a similar event, not quite so bad but again he fell over, lost the plot but did not lose consciousness, to make matters worse he also had a little incident today (Tuesday), only lasted a few seconds; he started limping, then shaking and again lost the plot but was soon right as rain. Obviously we’ll be back at the vet ASAP, but were so scared and afraid since our boys are like children to us… Can anyone here offer any advice or guidance on anything that might put our minds at rest. Thanks in advance |

So sory, you must be frantic with worry. Some of the symptoms do sound a bit like Canine Epileptoid Cramping Syndrome - CECS or Spike's Disease. Was initially seen in Borders but it appears more and more JRTs are also showing symptoms.May be completely wrong of course but check out This site - especially the videos.A lot of vets are unfamiliar with this so worth a look.I have no experience at all with a dog with epilepsy,I do hope you get a diagnosis and he recovers soon. |

Thanks, very, very much... Missed that on my hours on the internet so I'll digest all that now, in the mean time I'm going to try Rescue Remedy and Omega-3 Oil just as soon as I can get some, but again thanks... Andy |

Fingers crossed that the seizures don't continue. Keep a diary of all the event's leading up to the seizures - food eaten, exercise given - absolutely anything you can think of. Maybe possibily see an animal homeopath as well. You guys must be so upset and scared - having had one of my dogs go into shock I can emphasis somewhat. |

 :flower: I can't begin to imagine how awful this must be but you are onto it early. As Tafia suggested take notes of everything that could be a trigger - even what excersise Jack has been doing. I have never ever had - or even seen a dog having any form of seizure  |

 oh that's so hard to watch, must be heartbreaking for you. What is your vet saying? has he had any scans done - has anyone mentioned having one? I'm presuming the vets have seen this,it certainly isn't Spikes, looks more like epilepsy to my (inexperienced eye). |

Poor little mite, can see how distressing this is for all of you. So hope the vets can give you answers and a solution. |

Do you have insurance? If it were me and I don't, I be asking for a referal onto a veterinary school. Must be incredibly distressing for you all and frustrating not knowing where to turn. Chin up. |
