Poor old Fred, he hurt his paw some unknown time this week (but probably Tuesday). He's just been to the vet, and it's all weeping and infected and swollen. If it's not getting better by Monday they're going to knock him out to investigate properly. :(

The vet thought it might have been a sting, but he didn't make a fuss or limp badly to start with. I wonder if something fairly small has got stuck and infected it. His space helmet hasn't stopped him nibbling completely as it's too small, but it's helping.

He's still limping, but is less peed off about the whole thing. It's less swollen on the top, although still obviously swollen underneath, but that I can tell you it's nasty still is a good sign, as it means he's letting me hold him to look at it. This morning he bit me because he thought I was looking in its direction!

They don't think he needs to be put out now - his paw is still poorly, but he did allow us to fight him into submission and he stood still (although making noises as if we were cutting his paw off) for the examination. She squeezed his paw all over (meany!) and said despite the noises he wasn't making an 'ouch' sound so doesn't think there is anything in it so doesn't need putting out.

We're going back on Thursday to see the nurse just in case, as it's a four day weekend. They are also offering to take him out the back and clip his claws. He does need them done, but he's going to create merry hell and it will upset him, but it needs to be done. I'll go out and let them do it so he doesn't associate me with too many horrible things!

Well that's a relief. Davey's limping since our rocky beach walk yesterday - nothing seems swollen but he's just had two lead walks today. Can't say he's that impressed!

They never are!

The vet wants me to put a baby sock on it if we go out. I'm sorry, has she ever met a terrier before? :hyper:
