This is a slightly strange and embarrassing question for Twiglet....Sometimes she gets a bit excited while playing with toys or jumping up at something like my dressing gown, so excited in fact that she starts urm...humping my leg?! Why is she doing this, surely a female shouldnt have this sort of drive?! I am wondering if its a dominance thing? |

Awww, no nothing to do with dominance. She's just all excited and doesn't know what to do with all her energy. Teach her how to calm down in other ways - play with her so she gets excited (but not overly) then break off for a few minutes with a calm 'sit' or similar. The reward for calming down is she gets to play again. |

The joys of a new pup eh  Nought to do with dominance - wonder where that theory came from - but normal behaviour from a lot of pups.As Eco Worrier says distraction is the best way to deal with it,she'll stop once she realises she's not getting attention. |

Well ................ my Lab Millie never grew out of it. There were only certain dogs that she would try it on with and I am sure that it WAS a dominance thing  My friend's poor old Golden Retriever was one of the dogs Millie always used to try and "hitch a ride" on!!! It was soooo embarrassing  |

Well it's obvious, isn't it? She fancies you!! As zandd says, oh the joys... don't worry about it, she'll soon grow out of it and with terrier blood in her veins she'll be embarrassing you in all manner of ways youhaven't even thought of yet. Widget did it and Pixel did it. At least in our cases the dogs are small - can you imagine the embarrassment factor if they were great big Newfoundlands or Great Danes? |
