Eddie, EBT X Staffie DOB 02.08 – needs home! Posted Image His Story: Owner sister's dog had a litter, so he took puppy Eddie in. Always been loved, lived with children and adores dogs. In February he was hit by a car - cuts and grazes with nerve damage affecting his front left leg. Now less effective and his paw folds under, as residual disability. More time to allow for a natural recovery. Owner moved and couldn't take Eddie with him. Salient points: Brilliant, lovely bull breed. 'Good with everything' label, but perhaps not cats. Current disability to front left leg, doesn't take weight and catches front of paw. Hardening skin up to cope with exercise on hard ground. In foster to promote his recovery and care. Can be destructive when left, but improving. Need inclusive family, very loving up-close dog. Advert: Eddie is an English Bull Terrier cross. He is a people lover, AND also a dog lover. Just 15 months old, Eddie is coming to terms with disability. He lost his home at a crucial time when he most needed love and care, to see his recovery through and adjustment to some residual disability. Eddie is neutered, chipped and vax'd. Oh Eddie is such a wonder dog. He needs a family, a garden, lovely walks and cuddles. Eddie is full of fun, quite 'bull in a china shop' mentality which comes from the EBT genetics. BUT not an ounce of aggression even when challenged as occurs in his foster home living with 5 'terriers'! He is still chewing and can be 'creative' when left, so family would need to be up for a few incidentals with preparation of environment before leaving. Learning to settle, but is an inclusive dog who would prefer to sleep in the bedroom rather than the kitchen. Currently has a passion for soft furnishings like cushions, dog blankets, soft toys, hide bones, cutlery and a little sculpturing of a door frame. He is growing out of this and currently allowed some license as his previous owner crated to avoid and he has the bare patch on his tail through boredom. Is getting more trustworthy. Full of admiration for Eddie as a super duper family dog. Eddie is doing really well in foster - such a happy dog; very much the puppy dog, full of mischief and play; Charging about. We have a saying in the house "no invites to the china shop's opening day Eddie!' We are giving him free reign to explore his energy and engage in life. I walk him outside only about once a week as although he runs like the wind, he always badly grazes his foot and we are trying to develop a hard skin there for self-protection. We are delighted with Eddie. He is a wonderful, wonderful dog leaping into action before he thinks. For example he will rush up to you whilst on the stairs and launch so you are experiencing a Eddie bear hug and aware you are going to have to carefully manoeuvre him into a safe free standing position such is his trust. The other night I touched him not knowing he was in a deep sleep. It startled him but such a friendly response. He can tell the others to leave a piece of food for him, no malice meant. Eddie is so friendly and loves to engage the dogs in play. Posted Image |
