Now come on, who's your judge?

If it were a bit nearer I could have bought a ginger trimmed pair with me. Have a wonderful day and hope it's a great success.

:ph43r: I couldn't possibly comment.......

:yippee: I know who it is!!!! :P

I'm getting some t-shirts and shopping bags printed up - must-have items for anyone into Irish Terriers - or any terriers (I can export to Oz by the way ;) )

For anyone wanting to visit the area, there are plenty of B&Bs and caravan sites and lots of lovely walks, especially the Sefton Coastal Path and Formby pine woods and dunes. It would be brilliant to see people in person with their terrorists or other dogs.

I'll be there the Sunday before too as it is the heeler fun day (Dill will probably walk home in disgust when he realises there will be no working  involved)

 I've posted details on 3 forums and although there have been loads of views - nobody had actually posted to say they are coming!!!

I'm getting worried now! The flyers are designed; the specially-designed canvas shoppers are designed and ordered (will post a photo of one when they come back)

Please, please cross-post: grab people in the street you see with a ginger dog (or any other dog) if you live in the North West

We need lots of entries for Roo Roo to judge :yay:

I'm sure you'll get a great turnout, especially with judge Roo Roo! How about getting in contact with Welsh/Lakie/Smooth/Wire/Vulnerable Breeds breed writers for the two weekly papers? They publish their email addresses at the end of their weekly columns and must be desperate for something to put in each week. I'm sure that would get the local terrier owners support.

Last time, when we invited the heelers, we got a brilliant turnout mostly from advertising on Dog Pages and K9 Community and here.

The first one I did was for native Irish breeds and it went really well. We didn't have huge numbers, but we got more than enough to make a profit and we had talks on all the native Irish breeds - including a really interesting comparrision between working and show Irish setters.

The next time we invited all the native terrier breeds and I contacted all the breed notes writers in Our Dogs and Dog World: went to shows to hand out flyers and got lots of people saying they would come. It was actually the worst turnout we've ever had. Of the show people who said they would come, we had amazing support from the Dandies - but little else. We still made a profit and had a great day, but for all the effort I made talking to the show fraternity, it really didn't turn out to be a productive use of my time. Sad because I was really looking forward to seeing loads of native terrier breeds.

The rat relay race is run in teams of 4. Each person has to run over to a box full of straw, put their hand in and pull out a rat :yikes: Fortunately, they are actually tennis balls covered in grey fabric with ears and eyes and a tail!!! Then they have to put the rat in a child's fishing net and run back before passing the net to the next person and dog. It started off as a children's race but the adults actually get much more into it when it is their turn!

The potato race is where you put a potato on your head and walk with your dog in a straight line. The last person to lose their potato is the winner. :)

sounds like fun an games!im looking forward to it.as for the show fraternity tbh i think with the costs of showing these days they have to pick and choose which shows to attend as its a costly exercise and with there being no show awards like junior warrant points or cc's on offer they might not bother.when i used to show we loved little exemption shows as it was an excuse for a relaxing day out away from the stresses and pressures of showing and it was a social occasion too, a chance to meet friends and have some fun,and they were always very well attended, if you didnt get there early you wouldnt get a seat round the ring.i do hope its agood turnout if only cos you are doing so much work to make the day a success
