Mabel, Cross breed, 5 years old

Her Story: Mabel was owned by a 'dog lover' who collected dogs beyond their capacity to care and provide for their needs (18!). These dogs were taken into 'care' at a young age and moved between kennels, stables and empty cars, to hold on to them and finally abandoned. We took them on. They are ex-kennel dogs who need 'tender care' and acclimatization to domestic life.

Salient points: Mabel is healthy with a wonderful gentle temperament. She is seeking a loving home environment sensitive and geared to her needs. A quiet household for her and 'normal life' as most dogs know it.

Advert: Mabel is about 5 yrs old. She is beautiful, of mixed breeding, the size of a small Labrador with a 'terrier' profile complete with a cheeky beard and eyes to melt. Mabel was abandoned in kennels, but has been homed for 3 months now and developed skills. Unfortunately the house has proven to be to busy for her and she tends to retreat under the table and cling to the most consistent member of the family. Mabel is spayed, fully vet assessed and vax'd. Great with dogs, a little shy of humans, but soon settles and builds trust. Can bark at strangers coming into the house.

Mabel ideally needs a home with another dog, owner’s time and patience. She needs to continue to build a firm foundation to her skill base, laid in slow steps. If you are looking for a ready made dog ... quick results ... perhaps not. You can get a false reading with these dogs and underestimate their inner needs. Mabel needs to work from within, so she can feel in control as she embraces life and welcome the 'newness' of opportunities offered to her. Do you have dedicated time to offer and be thrilled with her emergence and slow skill acquisition? If you can offer her stability, safety and loving guidance, with another confident dog or confident pack, she would like to hear from you. Mabel needs to take her introduction to the world slowly and build her confidence from the inside outside.

Mabel's family have decided that they cannot part with her and are going to continue to work with her so she will be staying with them. Please close her thread. Thanks
