Yoyo has been off his food for about 3 days now, picking at it but not very interested, which in itself is nothing unusual. He's a very fussy/nervous eater and goes through phases of not eating much. However, yesterday he started throwing up so I tried him with boiled rice which he kept down. This morning he did a poo in the yard and left a few bloody drops after himself. Now I've noticed his stomach is very swollen so he's booked in for the vets at 3.10pm today. Any ideas what the problem could be? I worm him with the wormer from the supermarket every so often, but it's been about 6 months since the last one I think. Could it be worms? :err:

Keep your fingers crossed for him, I've never had to worry about him like this before.

No idea at all Laura apart from the obvious upset stomach. I'm sure the vet will be able to throw more light on the matter, in the meantime :crossedfingers: for his lordship!

Well we're back and he's in one piece!

The vet reckons it's a chronic stomach upset resulting in a build up of gas. I just have to wait for that to come out

He's got Hills food for 5 days and had a couple of jabs. At least he should be better soon, even if I am £30 worse off!

I've booked him in for dentistry in two weeks time. He's been needing it done for a while but it's pretty bad now, so I expect he'll have a few gaps :(

Oh poor Yoyo. Well done for getting him off to the doctors quickly - hopefully he is feeling a little better now - we can't have our little founder member going sick

He's not much better this morning though, but the vomiting has stopped :phew:

Still has a grossly swollen tummy, is very lethargic and is in obvious discomfort with it. I gave him half a tin of the Hills food lastnight and he loved every mouthful and managed to keep it down :yippee: He's drinking normally and peeing it all back out back again. **Don't read the rest if you're eating :) ** His poo is very soft but a normal colour, there's plenty of it and he's not straining which has got to be a good sign! No blockages I guess.

Fingers crossed he perks up a bit, I hate seeing him like this. He's normally really healthy :err:

Well it's good news that he's eaten, replenishing his fluids and stopped vomitting. Sounds as though he's on the road to recovery, it's awful when they're under the weather, made so much worse because they can't tell you what's the matter.

one of my dogs has similar symptoms a few weeks ago.he lost a lot of weight very quickly and when he had a poop it had red blood in it(not dark red but bright red whch is usually a lower bowel infection)vet gave him a course of antibiotics and he was fine in 24 hours.hope Yoyo is well again soon.trapped wind is very painful as i have IBS and one of the problems with it is trapped air which is always better quickly when i take some kolanticon gel, which contains both peppermint oil and spearmint oil.wonder if you could give that to a dog?the oil i mean?its in most tummy remedies :err:
