Hope no one minds if I put a questionnaire I have put together for work on here? We keep thinking about doing our own label and I am trying to find out what peoples views are on choosing dog food....anyone who fills it out I would be very grateful and a big advanced thanks :)

•Low price
•Specific ingredients, E.g. To help skin problems, sensitive stomachs etc
•Natural/Holistic
•Advice from friends/Breeder/Pet shop staff etc

What price and quantity do you usually purchase?

Would any of the following persuade you to buy a food?

•Hypoallegenic
•No unhealthy additives
•Holistic
•Gluten/Wheat Free
•Price incentives
•Flavour E.g. chicken or lamb etc
•Packaging
•Organic ingredients
•Help for teeth, skin, bones

From the above list what is most important to you?

Do you look at ingredients/analysis carefully before buying a food?

•Beet Pulp
•Corn
•Cereals
•Meat & animal derivatives
•Wheat
•Maize
•Poultry fat & digest
•Added oils

I normally buy enough for the week, or two weeks if I'm feeling flush! I buy Naturediet so I get it whenever I'm near a stockist. That's usually Pets at Home 20 miles away and it's 79p per pack there (but if I buy more than 5 they seem unable to count that many and under charge me :D )

Would any of the following persuade you to buy a food?

• Hypoallegenic
• No unhealthy additives
• Holistic
• Gluten/Wheat Free
• Price incentives

• Packaging

From the above list what is most important to you?
Gluten/Wheat free as this seems to be what brings on Yoyo's funny turns!

Do you look at ingredients/analysis carefully before buying a food?
I have to, but I rarely vary from Naturediet/Chappie (though he's not overly keen on Chappie!)

Do any of these ingredients persuade or dissuade you to buy the food;

• Beet Pulp
• Corn
• Cereals
• Meat & animal derivatives
• Wheat
• Maize
• Poultry fat & digest
Added oils - Persuade!
• Glucosamine Sulphate
• Green tea extract
• Probiotics
• Meat meal
• Added vitamins
I buy the food I know works best for my dog, I don't tend to look at any others. Don't fix it if it's not broken!

Does packaging matter? If so what attracts you/deters you to a product?
Packaging makes no difference to me, though I don't like tins. The Naturediet packs are great as once opened they can be stored in the fridge with a bit on clingfilm over the top. Just wish they had peelable tops!

•Natural/Holistic
•Advice from friends/Breeder/Pet shop staff etc Note - advice was from people who work with dogs and have done for many years.
•Advertised products
•Other – Please state

What price and quantity do you usually purchase?

I buy as trade, so ten cases of 18 packs at a cost of around £100 a time. I prefer this, as I can order loads and not have to keep faffing about. Before I ordered as trade I was getting 6 cases at a time anyway, direct from stockists (Nature Diet)

Would any of the following persuade you to buy a food? No

From the above list what is most important to you? None of the above

I don't think I'd like to see any of those, written as they are, in a food I was feeding my dog.

Does packaging matter? If so what attracts you/deters you to a product?

I have to say it, but there are so few foods out there I'd feed the dogs that I can't afford to be picky about packaging. I'd rather have what ND already sell than a tin, but I wish they'd sell it in big packs as well. Beauty has 3 a day, so I get through loads and loads of the little tray things! My recycling has nearly doubled since I started feeding it, as using 4 a day for both dogs.

What attracts me to a dog food is knowing that it's good, plain healthy food that the dogs enjoy. I dislike dry dog food and would never feed it again on a regular basis, although all these sodding plastic trays mean I may move back to Burns for a short while next time we go camping. It soaks really well!
