![]() Masters tournament at Area51 February 9 at 1pm; registration opens at 11:30 Steamroller 2013 Master scenarios and rules: http://privateerpress.com/files/Masters_2013_Rules.pdf Deathclock timers Players required to use three 50pt character restricted lists with the Divide and Conquer list variant. $10 entry fee (all going to first/second/third place prize support) This is the masters format used in many national tournaments. Give deep thought to your lists and bring your 'A' game because you'll need it against the brutal players we have in North Texas. Deployment will be done separate to deathclock and I will drop the green flag to start each round. Rounds will be dependent upon participants Bring your phones/devices to use as deathclock timers. I will have iPhone chargers available for use. Recommended app for iPhones (free): iGameClock. I encourage non-veteran players to give this a shot, but only if you have a BIG pair. Every victory should be a point of pride. Edited by apollosun, Jan 28 2013, 11:18 PM.

Well, first off...even with the GPS leading us in circles around Area 51 (for a minute when we ended up at DFW, I thought we were going to have to fly to Roswell) and the crappy weather, it was a ton of fun meeting up a couple of new guys! I have no tales of glory to recite, as I was totally skunked! My new army is still a WIP, so I dragged out my Legion which has been in sore disuse for the last 6 months. Game 1- James with his Skorne. Played Thagrosh vs. Rasheth. I just don't have a good understanding of Skorne as locally...we just don't have any. James was a great guy and fun to play. I made lots of mistakes and definitely need to learn better "target acquisition" with Prey (the Warspear UA seems great, just it's a new concept for me to have to pick a prey target). Went down to assassination. Good time! Game 2- Tristan with the bright colored Skorne! Dammit, again? Rhyas vs. Morghoul. Again it was a really fun game. I did better on my target acquisition for prey, but I got admonitioned. Tristan put the token out there, I just failed to remember it was there. Defense 17 or not, slams kill! Another fun game. I really liked his paint scheme even though he thought his Cataphract were chipped up from not playing for a while. His beasts were nice as well, just didn't get to eye them as much with the wall of Cataphracts! Game 3- James Russell. I have known James for a couple of years and we always had passed each other by in tourneys that I was actually able to participate in. My Saeryn vs. Ossyan. I'm sure that all of the DFW crew knows his armies from the awesome paintjobs he puts on them. Let me tell you, that Hyperion is hot sex on a platter! He got Ossyan to dominate a control point which he had effectively blocked me away from, so already having lost 2 games, even as cool as the model looked, I went after the Hyperion. Again, through good positioning, I wasn't able to bring everything to bear on it, so I put a hurting on it, but not enough. I had my feat going, so he was unable to pound me with the colossal, so he backed up and took the free strikes. I rolled really well, but it just wasn't enough. He got the last control point and sent me packing. No matter how many times I asked him to load the Hyperion in the back of the van, ...well he just wasn't listening. Caught up with a couple of the other Dallas guys I know, but with showing up late I just didn't get to chat as much as I would've liked to. Alex, Zach, Randy, Dan...I apologize. I was also able to meet "Tricky Nixon". Forums give us so much anonymity some times...when Apollo pointed Nick out to me, I was like..."Hey, that's the guy I was talking to outside the store at Coal and Claw!" Needless to say, that board of yours looked sweet! Catch you all in a few months hopefully! And then with my new army...I will have another reason for being such a Warmachine hack! Later guys. Rich |

Loved having you guys up Rich. And now that I know Jimmy likes having a single throne room to operate from, I'm going to give him the crazy terrain table. Kris...North Texas Warmachine Meetup is the closed group on Facebook, ask for an invite and we'll add you in. Edited by apollosun, Feb 11 2013, 07:57 AM.

Round 1 - Don's curse made a good effort to take me down, but I barely won against Dan because my Scythean was 1/4'' inside of contesting a zone. It's always a fun game with Dan, and in a few ways I think the game should have been his. Round 2 - Don's curse stuck when I set pIrusk on fire, and then immediately cast Purification with eVayl. As it turns out, purification removes fire. Got rolled by infantry. How the hell does Legion kill infantry anyway? I want my storm striders back. Round 3 - Randy cast "Curse of the Don". Jarl ranged assassinated pThags by popping his feat clouds on a tower that I thought I was safe behind, and then let the Sons of brag range assault me. To recap: pThags, with Spiny Growth, and fury for transfers, behind a building and behind another wall, was range assassinated by trolls. Round 4 - Three seasoned pork carnita tacos are only $4.50 next door to Area 51. They also offer Mexican Coke, which pairs well with the tacos. 4/5 stars. |

Do you ever take some sort of cheap infantry vanguard(I refuse to use bubblewrap) for your legion beasts? That plus Deathstalkers would be my original guess. |

Killing infantry? Swordsmen. Death Stalkers. Legionnaires. AOE spells. Don't forget you can also take Gudrun and Totem Hunter. And the spawning vessel, for when your troops die you get to make lesser beasts! |

As a super cheap option, Forsaken too right? or Spell Martyrs? |

Tereph When I was playing Legion, using a pair of Deathstalkers with Swordsmen+UA usually did the trick. James suggestion is good as a clean up with those lighter targets. Edited by Knightdrake, Feb 11 2013, 11:08 AM.
