(Although this is posted by myself, the fan fic below was written NOT by me. Enjoy.) By Joshua Temple (temples95) The Bill has been off our screens for a year now. A lot has happened at Sun Hill since we last saw the officers… The Bill: Your Cards Stamped. In 2008, PC Nate Roberts attempted to become an Advanced Driver. However, after a poor show, PC Tony Stamp decided Nate wasn’t ready to drive Sierra 1 on the streets of Sun Hill. Although we didn’t see Nate after 2010 episode “Death Knocks”, he didn’t leave Sun Hill… Now, 3 years after his first attempt, Nate is ready to try again. Callum has been giving the relief a briefing. He tells Nate that his application has come up and he is required to attend Hendon at midday. Nate heads for Hendon. He’s wondering what his chances are of passing the course today. He’s eager to find out who will be assessing him, so ensures he arrives early. Upon his arrival, Nate is sent, along with 5 other hopefuls from other stations, to a classroom in the ‘Driving’ section of Hendon. Impatiently, Nate leads the pack to the classroom. When they reach the door, his readiness becomes apprehension. He timidly knocks the door and, from behind, a shout beckons him in. He, being the first, slowly approaches the desk of his assessor. Nate can’t see their face but has the feeling he’s met them before… As Nate’s assessor looks up, the light-bulb flickers… “Nate?!” “Tony?!” “How are you?” “I’m not too bad thanks” “Good. Right, let’s get on with it shall we?” Knowing that Tony was his assessor 3 years ago, when he failed, Nate’s confidence lessens. Tony is waiting for Nate at the door to the ‘Assessment Area’ “Come on Nate! There’s 5 more people out there, waiting!” Nate wakes up and follows Tony into the yard. Tony shows Nate around the car they’ll be using. “It’s different here than on the streets, Nate. You’ll be driving an advanced vehicle this time.” “Tony, I’ve seen you drive a car like this many times…” “Yes, but you’re driving it this time.” After familiarising Nate with the car, Tony asks him to drive to the ‘Assessment Area’ for the test to begin. “Ok, Nate. Please continue around the course, remaining aware of any hazards at all times.” “No problem, Tone…” Nate sets off. He gives a commentary, like the last time, while Tony is assessing Nate’s driving and observation skills. After around 20 minutes of not encountering a hazard, Tony has something ready for Nate. He has the model of Jack Meadows ready to step out in front of the car around the next bend. This is so that he can observe Nate’s reactions when something unexpected occurs. As the BMW 5-Series comes into view, from behind a wall, the model of Jack, Nate’s Superintendent, charges out into the middle of the road. Nate wasn’t expecting his boss to appear at Hendon, today of all days. He swerved to avoid hitting Jack and brought the car to a controlled stop. After checking there was no damage to the vehicle or the person in the road, Nate sets off again. Now, Tony wants to see how Nate reacts to an incident occurring outside some shops on the course. Tony has set up a mugging at the shops, near to where they are now. As they approach the shop, two people burst out of the door and start struggling on the street. Tony looks for Nate’s reaction. He’d been training for every eventuality; especially after what happened last time. Nate slowly pulled up and activated his ‘hazard warning lights’ and ‘blues’ and checked to ensure no vehicles were in the path of the door. As he approached the people, Tony called him back to the car. The test was over. Tony asked Nate to drive back to the yard where they started. However, Tony wasn’t finished with Nate yet. He had one more test for him. He had planned for a car to pull out of a junction in front of Nate. As they approached the junction, right on cue, the car sped out. Nate slowly reduced his speed and activated his ‘blues’. The test was now over (for good) and they pulled into the yard. Tony lead Nate back to the Classroom to give him his results. Nate was quite happy and felt sure that he would pass this time. As he and Tony sat down, Tony’s face didn’t look too confident. This made Nate wonder if he had done something wrong. Tony’s expression changed. He smiled and gave Nate the result. “I am pleased to inform you that, PC Nate Roberts; you have successfully achieved the standard required by the Metropolitan Police to become an advanced driver. Congratulations” Nate cracked a smile, got up and thanked Tony. He walked out of the classroom and, even from inside, Tony could hear his cry of happiness. *Roll credits* This is my first ever fan-fic, written especially for the anniversary. Hope you like it. "

Nicely done J.T. I did have a little giggle at the start, thinking for some reason Nate had been patrolling the beat on a push bike for the previous 3 years, but seeing him pass the advanced test at last was the perfect ending
