Oz day here is being spent waving my little flag and having a good fry up of bacon, eggs, tomato, onions and the obligatory couple of slices of tinned beetroot. All topped with a healthy smack of tomato sauce on top - nothing says 'Australian Cuisine' more than a chin dripping with egg yoke and tom' sauce and a stained t-shirt for the rest of the day to proudly show your colours!!

May all your b.b.q's go well today :pubfood1:

Oh wow I think we'll have to add the fry up to our ever growing recpies section! I have never heard of tinned beetroot here, so have to ask.... is it pickled?

You wear that stained t-shirt with pride and hope you added to it as the day went on!! :Australia:

We have beetroot, either grown fresh or bought in jars of pickled beetroot but not beetroot in tins that can be eaten with breakfasts, that is quite a new one on me.

Tinned beetroot is a staple down this way; i assume the beets are cooked properly before either sliced up in natural juice, or tinned as baby whole beets.
The are fantastic in a salad, on their own or in the classic version of an Aussie burger, which features a big slice and an egg.

What a shame McDonald's calls it Ketchup instead of Tomatoe Sause. I used to work at McDonald's as a cook. I was fuzzy, you have to do the right thing by the Customer. Point is at McDonald's is a closed Kitchen and so sometimes when a Burger fell onto the floor they just picked it up and tried to sell it to the Customer. I said no put it in the waste bin, I even told a manager to do that he didn't so I took the matter up with a Manager higher up. Same when I was working at KFC, a Burger Wrapper fell from the Burger station, the owner of the store saw it fall he picked it up and put the paper Burger wrapper back, when he walked away I got that Burger wrapper and put it in the bin. Once it hits the ground it should always go in the bin. It is my duty to do that.

Quiet often when I worked at McDonald's that thing happened, because the Kitchen is closed the Customer can't see it. I normally buy my Hamburgers from a local Fish n' Chips shop, Fresh Beef mince, Lettus, Beetroot, Tomatoe, Pinapple, Union, Bacon and Tomatoe Sause. The Kitchen at the local Take Away Shop is an open Kitchen so I can see what is going on, I'm watching them cook my food. I prefer it that way. Put it this way if McDonald's had an open Kitchen and while them making my Burger they dropped it and tried to sell me that I would tell them to put it in the bin and make me a new Burger otherwise I would go straight to their Head Office. Also at McDonald's, Hungry Jacks the Beef Patties are Frozen not Fresh. That is why I like to buy my Burgers from a local Take Away Shop and it is an good Old Fashioned Australian Style Burger.

Sometimes I do buy from McDonald's, my store was the Macquarie Centre Store, some McDonald's Store do have an open Kitchen. No matter where I go to buy my food if I see my meal hit the Floor from them, I ask them to make me another lot as I won't eat food that has touched the Floor. In the Wynyard McDonald's in the City of Sydney is an open Kitchen and I can see them making my Burger. Most times I buy from my local Take Away Shop.

My Attitude while I worked in the Fast Food Industry was the Customer All Aways comes first, No customer means No business. Also I wouldn't like to eat food that I know has touched the ground or wrapper/Burger Box which has hit the ground, therefore I when Food hits the ground when I'm in the Kitchen must go straight into the Waste Bin.
