Thus, we see that Mary was, so to speak, "at home" with God's word, she lived on God's word, she was penetrated by God's word. To the extent that she spoke with God's words, she thought with God's words, her thoughts were God's thoughts, her words, God's words. She was penetrated by divine light and this is why she was so resplendent, so good, so radiant with love and goodness. - Homily Pope Benedict XVI on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 16, 2005 at the parish church of Castelgandalfo, Italy

Directive on Communion by the tongue in Manila; How do we deal with the directive to 'temporarily' avoid receiving Communion by the tongue?

Due to the recent scare brought by influenza A(H1N1) virus, Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales instructed the Roman Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of Manila to refrain from receiving Communion by the tongue.

Considering how much abuse there already exists toward the Eucharist, how do we, as conscientious and enlightened Catholics, deal with this?

I do believe in the presence of the true body and blood of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. For me, the directive of "temporarily" not receiving communion by the tongue just because of a scare in a virus is a sign of weakness in faith. Conscious that we are in His presence in the Eucharist, let us enlighten our brothers and sisters through prayers and by sharing what we know.

Let us always remember our response in the mass: "LORD I AM NOT WORTHY TO RECEIVE YOU, BUT ONLY SAY THE WORD AND I SHALL BE HEALED.
Miguel

"Peace be with you. I, Saint Michael, ask you to consecrate your days and nights to petitions, fasting and prayer. Soon, all things that have been hidden to you shall be revealed - may it be the Lord's Will that you shall find His Mercy in His Day. If only you who have hardened your heart would listen to Him today, if you would only open your heart to hear His Voice... open your hearts, not your minds... Everything goes in accordance with the Scriptures. Soon many will start bending their knee to God and many whose tongues have not uttered a prayer shall start praying. Be united, you who are God's people, in your convictions and in your love, be united in prayer. I bless you all, in the Name of Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit . Rest in the Lord's Heart, be the sign of His Love. Have My Peace."
