REGENT AND QUEEN DOWAGER

[align=center]GREAT OFFICES OF STATE DURING THE REGENCY[/align]

Traditional Court ministers, who either inherit their positions or are appointed to exercise certain largely ceremonial functions for the monarchy. In Order of Importance and status:

LORD HIGH STEWARD: CHARLES BRANDON
The position of Lord High Steward of England is the first of the Great Officers of State. The Steward presides over Parliament.

LORD HIGH CHANCELLOR: THOMAS MORE
Custodian of the Great Seal of the Realm. The Lord Chancellor attends the Royal Court and perform diplomatic duties. Important petitions are to be sent to him for his decision; the more significant of these are to be brought to the Regent and Queen attention.

LORD HIGH TREASURER: THOMAS HOWARD (available)
Head of Her Majesty's Treasury. The Treasurer supervises the Chancellor of the Exchequer, but because the Regent's policy of hand's on government, he reports to the Regent and Ruler and they supervise the royal accounts together.

LORD GREAT CHAMBERLAIN: THOMAS AUDLEY (Available)
The Lord Great Chamberlain has charge over the Palace of Westminster, and speaks on behalf of the House of Lords. He bears the Sword of State at the openings and closings of sessions in Parliament. The Lord Great Chamberlain also has a major part to play in royal coronations, having the right to place the crown on the monarch on coronation day and also being involved in investing the monarch with the insignia of rule.

LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL: HENRY PERCY
Presiding officer of Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council and member of cabinet. The Lord President usually attends each meeting of the Privy Council, presenting business for the monarch's approval. He conducts the votes for new policy which then he delegates the Priyy Seal to deliver to Parliament for deliberation.

SPEAKER OF THE COMMONS: THOMAS CROMWELL
The representative of the House of Commons. He is the counterpart of the Lord Great Chamberlain and both offices have full access to the Regent and Queen and takes messages from there to the Houses in Parliament.

LORD PRIVY SEAL: ROBERT NEVILLE
Responsible for the monarch's personal ("privy") seal. He takes decisions from the Monarch and the Council to Parliament.

LORD HIGH CONSTABLE: EDWARD SEYMOUR
The Lord High Constable is the commander of the royal armies and the Master of the Horse.

EARL MARSHAL: THOMAS HOWARD (available)
Head of the College of Arms. The Earl Marshal has responsibility for the organization of State funerals and the monarch's coronation in Westminster Abbey.

LORD HIGH ADMIRAL: WILLIAM FITZWILLIAM (available)
Commander of the Royal Navy

CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER: THOMAS CROMWELL
The Chancellor carries the responsibility for the Exchequer, the medieval English institution for the collection of royal revenues. The Chancellor controlled monetary policy as well as fiscal policy and reports to the Lord High Treasurer and the Regency.
