1: Use standard English where possible, and avoid using "txt spk", it is hard for some people to read. Keep abbreviations to a minimum, but well-known phrases can be tolerated. Please do not use "CAPS" it is not nice to see posts with all caps 2: Follow proper netiquette. 3: Ensure that your new topics are in the correct forum, they may end up being deleted. 4: Don't post offensive material. Be it pornographic, racist, whatever. If someone takes great offence to something, the offender will be banned. 5: Please be aware that the Moderators will not always be around to delete inappropriate posts - we can't control everything that is posted so be prepared to accept you might not enjoy some of the things posted. If you think a thread is offensive or a member is please contact Admin/Mods and report 6: No spamming / advertising 7: No duplicate member accounts. 8: Don't break any law. This includes: Don't request/post illegal audio files (e.g. MP3s) or video files; don't request/post links to such files. Here are some guidelines for adhering to the Board rule to "Follow proper netiquette": 1. No flaming, i.e., no contemptuous, insulting posts. This rule applies regardless of whether the person who has inspired your post is guilty of a breach of the rules. 2. Treat new members respectfully. For example, refrain from making condescending comments if a newbie asks a question, makes a statement, or starts a thread that you think is redundant because it's a subject longer-term members are familiar with. (Note: If a new member seems to have registered just to cause trouble, please contact the administrators/moderators so they can look into the situation. Please do not take "vigilante" action by being rude to the person, though it is, of course, fine to respond with your own view of the validity of what they have said.) 3. Because the board is basically a verbal medium, tone is important. I.e., if something might be taken as an insult, reword it so that it is clear you are opposing the statement, not demeaning the individual who made it, their mental capabilities, etc. 4. Do not bash people's religion, culture, or sexual orientation. 5. If joking, use the faces provided so as not to confuse anyone. And remember, this is a place for making new friends & having fun! Genuine humour is always welcome. [These abbreviated guidelines are based on a review of descriptions of netiquette that various forum administrators and other interested parties have posted on the Web.] |
