It was unanimous in this house: we all liked this episode. So much happened. The story really progressed. Cat-man-lawyer who is now dog-man -awyer finally came full circle with his story and now we understand his bitter outlook on life: he cannot forgive himself for living through the Cylon annihilation of the human race. As Lee said, everyone had to make choices in those first moments of war. Romo made a choice that he just can't live with. Sad. Real. Thought provoking. Adama finally admits his feeling for Roslin... very nice. And what about the turn around for Tigh? It is puzzling, as Monty mentions, that the captive Syx is pregnant, since I thought one of the premises of Hera's imprtance was that Cylons cannot create children on their own. So what the heck is this twist, and what should it make any sense to us? I must say, after waiting through all those episodes of slow, dead-slow, story building, the revving up of story now has me awaiting anxiously and quite eagerly for next week's episode. One last thing. . . . in a world where few human remain, why do old scars still rule even the best advice? Tom Zereck should have been president. |

Well, this has been my point all along that a story this big takes time to build to a pay off because it is so complex. I have never believed that Tigh is really one of the final 5, and this may be the proof. I've often wondered if the Cylons did more than just remove his eye when he was their prisoner. We know they messed with Baltar's mind, so who better to play mind games with than the second in command of the Colonial fleet? It's good to see Lucy Lawless making a return next week. |

I call BS on the whole Apollo becoming president story line. Come on, they spent almost an entire season dealing with politics and the people and how vitally IMPORTANT a true democratic process is and suddenly they are just going to throw all that out the window and pick (not ELECT mind you...) a new president just because some people don't like Zereck. Well heck...I wish we had known about this. Has anyone informed congress??? And it is made all the more ridiculous by the fact that the very argument for making the change (that Adama would not recognize Zereck as leader) was made moot when Adama resigned! I say again... Bull***t. Speaking of Adama, I did love the fact that he finally admited his feelings for Roslin. Sine Qua Non indeed. If and when she dies (speculation, I don't know) I will be crying for days. I just don't understand though how Adama could call Tigh a trator one minute for sleeping with the cylon and then turn around and put him in control of the fleet. What are these people thinking. For a minute there, I thought maybe Adama was going to press Lee back into survice and make him the new Admiral in his absence. Now THAT would have made since. Anyway, I'm glad we are getting some answers and I can't wait until next weeks show. Yay! Lucy Lawless is back and badder than ever. I'm just not sure I believe what she told Roslin though..... |

It's been a few weeks since I've had anything to say about this show, so I guess this mid-season hiatis we have ( damn you SciFi channel ) is a good a time as any to chime in. So, the 4 living in secret have been revealed and from what I can tell from the last episode, people were pretty upset at first, but then it went back to business as usual. Ah, yeah. Okay. I believe that. They finally make it to Earth in about 5 minutes from where ever they were and find it a nuclear wasteland. Of course the question begs when did they make it to Earth. How many years in the future are they? I guess it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. I haven't had a chance to see how many episodes are left, but I can't see it being too many. The fifth will be revealed when ever we get to see the shows again, and I still think it's Roslyn. Sorry, Geo. Remember that Xena-cylon said that 4 of the cylons were on board Galactica. At the time Roslyn, Baltar and a few other people were on the base ship. I think that may be a clue. That's all I got for now. To be concluded...frakin' SciFi Channel... |

Yeah, this show is finally back! I think interesting isn't enough of a word to describe last night's episode. They certainly threw a lot at us for us to digest. I came out of this show both confused and depressed and I'm not sure which one more. I guess my main question would be just who the heck are these people from the 12 colonies and their cylon "brothers". The time span the Baltar determined between when Earth was nuked and the present day just doesn't make sense right now. Perhaps they evolved from skin job cylons to the point where human and cylon are interchangable. I'm sure the writers have some tricks up their sleeves and I think it'll be a fun ride to the answers. |

Wow!! That was certainly a way to open a new season!! Poor Dee. That really took me by surprise. I literally gasped out loud when that happened. I always thought she was the 5th cylon...I guess that would be a no. I remember saying a long time ago that I thought Helen was a cylon. OK, I didn't call her as one of the 5, but I did think she was one of them. I was on the right track...just missed the station. Assuming the writers aren't pulling a fast one that is. They do like to mess with our heads. If it is true, then I am glad because it means Roslin isn't the final cylon. Unfortunately, it appears that she is slowly going crazy. And what the frak is going on with Starbuck. So many question... I am really looking forward to this last season. |

I finally got my TV hooked up, yeah! and watched this episode late last night. Yep depressing but interesting. Sorry Geo, but I knew Dee was going to blow her brains out when I saw her on that grey and dingy beach. She had that look of hopelessness in her eyes (great acting!). I am unsatisfied with the Starbuck scenes because, well, I guess I watch too much CSI. I wanted her to do a DNA scan on the corpse to see if the body was really her. And get this, I have been saying to my boys for months now that when they reach earth they will find that the 13th tribe are really human Cylons. Its sad to see Roslin give up hope too. I thought she was the one who would ride out the storm with all the strength. Looks like it is time for the Adamas to step up to the plate (but heck, they always do, don't they?). Secretly I think I have always had a fondness for the Tigh/Helen love story. Through it all they have always stuck up for each other and they seem like a perfect pairing. Maybe they are the King and Queen of the earth Cylons, hehehehe. |

Kerra you will probably enjoy this article. The Chicago Tribune interviewed Ron Moore to get his thoughts on these last episodes and he goes into great detail on the decisions they made about who the final five would be and the relationship between Tigh and Ellen. One of the writers also talks about a book that inspired the story line. It has lots of insight but no spoilers beyond this first episode. Link to article As to Roslin...I really hate to see her lose it but I can understand why she is. Entertainment Weekly did a recap of the episode and the writer put it better than I could: "Hope in the fleet had been hanging by a thread for years — the only thing that kept them going was the vague idea of salvation on Earth. With that hope gone, nuked two millennia ago, what are people to do? Where do they turn? To each other? Not quite. Disappointment on so vast a scale is impossible to communicate — which is why Roslin can't even bear to address her people. How can you trust anything, even yourself when faith is so thoroughly betrayed?" What do you do when the only thing in the world that has keep you going turns out to be a lie? It's going to be a very rough road from here on out and I have a feeling we haven't seen the worst of it yet. |

I’m sorry to say it, I don’t want to bring you guys down, but I found it far more depressing than usual, more depressing than interesting. I am so tired of seeing my beloved characters killed off on this show, and for them to kill Dee that way, killing her with a gunshot to the head by her own hand, made me feel sick in the pit of my stomach. Last year they had me for four episodes, this time for about thirty-two minutes. I had hoped this year it would start getting better but now I honestly don’t think I’ll be watching the rest of the series. I watch TV for entertainment and enjoyment and I just can’t enjoy a show that leaves me feeling the way BSG does anymore. I’ll leave you guys to the enjoyment you get out of it, I hope it comes out well. |

Kirock, I have been of the same mind set as you are now since the second season, however, I think I finally see the vision behind the storyline. One question: how can human beings become greater than they are at present? I believe they must push themselves, and through the worst of it all grow into something stronger. The spirit grows strong through adversity, a sad but true statement. If the theory that dinosaurs are truly birds, that the species of giant animals took to flight and saved their species, through the toughest of all circumstances, then what of human beings? Are we to have it easy because we want it easy? Dee had her last shred of hope demolished. She could not go on without it. Sad but true. Some people choose to stop rather than muster once again the strength to carry on. I see the vision of R. Moore and I find it to be profound, even if I don't like its harsh truth.... so unlike the Roddenberry vision of the Star Trek universe. |

Last night's episode, 1/23/09, is the perfect example of how tension raised in the human drama theater can be squashed by politics. The political drama in BSG has never seemed real to me and last night's episode was tinged with boring politics. I never felt the tension and the utter desparation the Galactica command staff should have felt by losing the fueling ship. The drama just didn't pan out. :ph43r: I will say more once the rest of you have a chance to watch the episode. |

It didn't really surprise me that the latest episode was toned down from the week before. I think it was there just to set things up for the events that look to be happening next week. After all they've been through, a mutiny is pretty much a forgone conclusion. I think it's a mutiny bore out of pure frustration that the events of the last 4 years have seemingly been in vain; that they've been on a wild goose chase. It's perfectly natural to be disillusioned by now. The politics that I think are in play now are Adama and his people trying to convince the masses that they will be okay, but to get there, they need the help of the enemy. That's a hard sell. |

I agree with you jdono. I think the people are just so lost they don't know what to do. They are blaming those in charge because they have to have someone to blame and Zarek is taking advantage of it. I was so mad during the quarum meeting when he said that Adama and Roslin were just using the dream of Earth to keep the power. NO! They truly believed Earth would be their salvation and they were acting in the interest of the people. I was yelling at Lee to stand up and say something but I guess you can't fight reason with an angry mob. All they needed were torches and pitchforks and the image would have been complete. Poor Chief....as if things in his life weren't bad enough. Well, that at least explains how Callie got pregnant. I know last season many people were questioning how Tyrol could have a baby because he is a cylon. The answer is he can't....or at least he didn't this time. Don't ask me to explain Tigh and 6. I guess we will just have to wait and see about that one. One more thing.....Awwwwww. President finally got some lovin'. |

Remember the "vision" Tyrol had when he touched the wall on nuked Earth? Didn't he have a similar experience when he touched the wall with the "Eye of Jupiter" on it? And then there's Starbuck's vision(s) of the Eye of Jupiter. (For some reason, those sequences of Starbuck drawing the Eye of Jupiter even in her youth evoked images of Ellie Arroway in Carl Sagan's Contact. possibly because the images she experienced upon "arriving" at her "destination" were images from her youth.) |

Excellent Dennis. Tyrol did have those same visions therefore they do mean something. And Starbuck's paintings, yes, it all makes sense, in a weird BSG sort of way. Starbuck's paintings have always reminded me of the red spot on Jupitar. Is there a connection? Geo, I agree, Awwwwwwww!!! Finally. But now I am scared for Roslin's life. See Dee chose to end hers on a note of joy. Will Roslin regain her sense of survival or will she take Dee's way out? Zarek!!! I have been in love with Richard Hatch since I was 7 years old. To see Zarek betray the people's hope for political power just makes me sick. Hatch's Apollo would have never done such a thing. He was so beyond reproach. It all makes me sad. I am wondering if Ellen is the leader of the "bad" Cylons. Her words to Tigh right before they were incinerated were rather ominous. |

I agree with you Kerra in that we grow stronger through adversity. My problem is that I see enough of that kind of ‘growing’ in the real world everyday, through the news, and through my own circle of family and friends. When I turn on the television for entertainment I don’t want to see more of it, I want entertainment and relaxation. The title and opening quote of last weeks episode was perfect for how I feel. After leaving an episode of BSG anymore I have a feeling of languor that is disquieting to my soul. That simply isn’t the feeling I want to leave a television show with. I feel the show that I am watching. If I could compartmentalize things better I might be able to leave it behind when the show ended, but that first episode had me awake until daylight. I’m just saying it’s not right for me. It may be realistic for a future world of this fantasy show, but I prefer to look to, in the words of Charles Eisenstein, "to the more beautiful world our hearts tell us is possible.” I believe in the possibility of the vision of the Star Trek universe, I see enough of the bad parts of real life than to purposely watch more on television. If you can see it in the real world and than watch more on television that’s fine for you ... Moore power to you. ;) |

Wow. That's all I'm gonna' say about the ep. About the previews. The segment where Laura threatens, "I'm coming after you - ALL of you!!!!" In earlier previews, she looked slightly incoherent. Is this a different take on that line? I mean here, she seems totally coherent, just incredibly intense. Could it be my perceptions of that line are affected by the grim possibilities looming for Adama and Tigh? |

Grim is the right word Dennis. Last night's episode reminded me of an episode of "24" in that it took place in a relative short period of time. It was intense. It was scary. One more thing.... Wow is right! I think you're right about that line Dennis. When I heard Roslin say those words in the earlier previews it sounded like she was a big crazy...and that certainly matched with the storyline and where I thought she was going. After tonight though it looks like she is pulling herself back together. I suspect now it's not crazy.....it's the wrath of the gods and she's bringing it done on all those who dared cross her. And why? Could it be the death of Adama? I think that would certainly be enough to prevoke it. She seemed to even expect it. What was it she said "I didn't want you to worry about me...and I know what you have to do." At first I thought she ment take back the ship but the way she said it and the look in her eyes. I think she knew what he was going to do. But who knows. This show has given us red harrings before and I wouldn't put it past them to do it again. History has shown that this man is very hard to kill. Still, it has been a dark season so far and I wouldn't put it past the writers to give us another shocking death. Here's holding my breath until next Friday.... |

Holy Cow! Did all those things in the final minute that seemed to happen, really happen, or are they frakking with us?! Everyone sure found their focus in a hurry. I definitely would want Starbuck on my side in a fight! Whoa - 'These are not your men any more.' Ouch. What is up w/ Gaeta - he looks extremely yellow; is he going septic from his leg? Or just bad lighting in the CIC. Maybe he'll be the dying leader who finds Earth? Do you think Chief will end up with a new Sharon? ;) That'd be nice. |

Cheif saved the day! He deserves one of the other Sharons!! B) I knew Zerek was going to give that order. He is/was evil and when he had the power in the palm of his hand he showed his true self. Poor Gaeta. :ph43r: Of all the kick-butt female characters on TV, isn't Starbuck the ultimate? And what about her loyalty and love for Sam? She is tops in my book. And Geo.... another awww moment for Roslin and Adama. :D This show just keeps getting better and better, in my opinion. The tension, the mystery of what will happen, the Cylons (rebels and Others), it is all going to come to a satisfying end... I just have that feeling. |
