from Entertainment Weekly:

Bryan Singer to direct and produce 'Battlestar Galactica' movie
by Nicole Sperling

Battlestar Galactica is getting the big-screen treatment. Universal Pictures has confirmed blog speculation that Bryan Singer, director of Valkyrie, will take on directing and producing duties for a BSG movie. Glen Larson, who created original series back in 1978, will produce as well.

The film is not expected to be a continuation of current popular television show that’s running on the SyFy network but will be a complete re-imagining of the sci-fi lore that was invented by Larson back in the 70s.

Another re-imagining? Really?

Seriously Hollywood, what the Frack!?!

So is Starbuck going to be a guy again? UGH! I just got used to the sex change.

So, I wonder... when these "Re-imaginings" are done, do the "Original Imaginers" get anything? Which in this case might be redundant since it is going to be the same person. Could this just be "payback" for the money that he feels others made off of his ideas??

This just erks me to no end. Ok, I loved the new BSG TV show so I agree that re-imaging can be a good thing. However, not when you are re-imaging something that just happened. At least the SyFy show came 20 years after the original. One can agree that an update may be warrented. But this isn't even 20 months after the show went off the air.

Typical Hollywood. Don't have any creative ideas so we'll just steal one from someone else.

Hey, this will solve SyFy's problem of finding a show to replace BSG. Now they can just do a re-image of the re-imaged movie!! :P

My son told me about this just the other day when we were in Phoenix.

All I can think of is who will play Apollo? Will Starbuck be male or female (my bets on male NJ). Will Adama be old? Will Boxie show up and stay. Will there be a Cassiopeia? Will Baltar become a Cylon?

Oh gosh... so many questions. <_<

How many universes does BSG live in and when will we get to see the real Lords of Cobalt?
:P

That was one heck of a season ender wasn't it!? Be sure to head over to our BSG thread (for the TV show) so you can post thoughts on individual episodes if you want.
