I am now looking for a way to create an animated film using After Effects - But (yes, you've guessed it) I have no idea how to get started. I mean creating something from scratch, storyboards, audio, characters, movement, speech, the whole nine yards. Are there any tutorials out there or if anyone can help directly, please let me know. I doubt you will be able to create everything you are asking soly in after effects unless you mean you already have a live action film made and want to do additional fx in ater effects. For one you cant really do character animation unless you already have the characters already made in a seperate program. After effects really does not support audio files very well and storyboards would more than likely need to be made with photoshop or a specialised storyboard maker program |

Well okay, I get that. In that case, what would anyone recommend for creating this sort of thing? |

I am afraid to say it, but its a case of learning some more programs (3ds max, maya, poser, photoshop etc...) or working with someone who already can. other than that just film it and edit the fx in after effects as i mentioned earlier |

You might also be interested in a PC game called The Movies. You can create the characters, have a wide variety of audio to choose from, many scenes, thousands of camera angles, and can add voices. |

2d animation can be done in after effects they use it all the time for kids tv shows like lil bill. animation isnt easy to get right with any software it takes a lot of time and skill to get it looking right . creative cow have some tutorials on animation in after effects . but you will still need to spend ages in photoshop & illustrator to make all the parts to be animated no small task in itself .
