Looks like they finally got their arse into gear and actually brought out a decent version, not just a new number with the same content and bugs. Been on some of the poser forums and from what i have heard its all good. ~They have completely changed the interface, updated a lot of things, fixed nearly all the bugs that poser 7 and poser pro had> one of the new eatures is a wardrobe wizard which means that clothing can be converted to any character to wear. Rendering is rumored to be much faster and they have even brought out an awesome new global illumination system and realistic illumination

Quote:

Generate new characters from your facial photographs.
Add hair and clothing.
Dress Poser's virtual stage with props, lights and cameras to construct 3D scenes.
Automatically generate walking or running animations and talking characters.
Import motion capture files for even more animated realism.
Animate lights and cameras, and then render your scene into photorealistic images and video for web, print, and film projects.
Export 3D figures to add characters to other 3D applications.
Along with 8 brand new 3D humans, Poser 8 includes an improved user interface to maximize your workspace while providing better workflow, a new search-enabled library so you can find, organize and use your content easier, a dependant parameter tool that lets you teach objects in the scene to interact with each other, cross body morph brushes to smoothly sculpt a figure across every body part, new photorealistic rendering features that more accurately reproduce light and shadows, and improved character rigging for even better character bending. To save time, Poser 8 has been performance optimized so you can pose your characters and render them faster on today's multiple processor systems.

Rendering a standard figure with strand hair and raytraced shadows in poser 7 and pro would normally take 3-10 minutes to render a single frame (dependent on pc specs). Poser 8 with the same settings will take 10-40 seconds with MUCH higher and realistic quality. The above demonstration images are not an over exaggeration with hours of setting up and professional tweaks or plug ins added.

These are all poser 8 renders using the built in AO lights with render settings set to full and all images took 15 seconds to render rather than the standard 50 seconds with standard settings in poser 7

Below are all the new characters, minus clothes, hair and body morphs

Nice. I'm excited. But how do i get animated characters, complete with motion capture and lip syncing, into 3ds max? I know you can't export sequence, but how do you load sequences into max?

you need poserfusion which doesn't come with poser 8. it comes as standard with poser pro or on its own. Its the only way to import poser animations into max. it takes up a bit of memory because the meshes have millions more polygons than your standard max 3d characters. And you need to do a search for mocap files that are BVH format.
