Considering the lengthiness of this suggestion, I thought I'd make a slightly shorter (what I mean by this is not by length, but by the ability to skip things you probably don't care about), easier-to-read version located at the bottom of this post (along with my random thought, but that's not necessary to read); made especially for all those who can't navigate their eyes through endless text on a comp screen for an extensive amount of time.
~~~ ORIGINAL VERSION - SPEECH LAYOUT: I had brought this up in the profiles of Firepaw, Hawkpaw, and Tawnypaw of LeafClan concerning the issues of them becoming warriors. The Clans are currently rampant with warriors that, unlike the actual series, aren't dying in battles or sicknesses or anything. As far as my limited knowledge goes, I haven't a clue to any cats dying anytime soon. And with all these new additions in apprentices, kits, and warriors as well, I thought I'd make a small suggestion to our lovely admins. I remember looking at a few other Warriors roleplaying sites (just out of boredom; don't worry, I'm not going anywhere!), and a lot of the sites had the same issues. One solution that I thought was very easy to do and really did a good job of solving the problem was to have a death sign-up list. The basic overview of it is that users sign up their cats (mostly if they're unwanted) to die in some upcoming battle or in some random disease. It all depends on what will be happening in the near, yet distant, future. We've had a few battles going on lately and, as always, no one even gets hurt anymore. And there can be almost no exception to sicknesses; they always come when you least expect them! There are, of course, exceptions to the list. One I saw was that if the user is inactive for like 3 months or something, ALL of their characters would be automatically signed up and doomed to die in the next big thing. If that user had returned and said stuff like "Hey, wait! I'm back! I want my cats back!", then it would just simply be undone and they would pretend nothing ever happened. I thought this kind of weird and harsh at first, but it seems fair enough concerning all the warning given, and it would clean up the Clan cat lists a bit, listing only those that actually roleplay once in a while; it would just need some kind of announcing pretty much everywhere (especially as a new addition in the rules). And this would be a great benefit with me because whenever I try to look up a cat for some kind of plot-wise thing, I end up choosing the inactive cat and then things just get a bit confusing. Things would just be overall easier if they were just cleaned out. And another thing I saw was that a user was awarded if they sacrificed one of their cats to the thrill of the battles and/or sicknesses, which we don't have to do that, but would provide motivation. Besides all the obvious, it would really add some true meaning to the Warriors series here at Into the Elements, for we all know that no cat can live forever and we would all like to make it as fun as we possibly can without being too unfair. So, finally, Aurorastar and Galeclaw: this is completely up to you guys, no pressure if you decide against, but I would like for you two to put this in some kind of consideration, as there are quite a few benefits to doing these things (as listed below in the list version of my "speech", lol). ~~~ SHORTER VERSION - LIST LAYOUT: Directed To: Anyone who reads this (in case a vote opens up), but the final decision is to be enacted by the administrators of Into the Elements, Aurorastar and Galeclaw. Proposal: To distribute some kind of Death List to give users the choice to sacrifice their cats to any pre-listed upcoming battles and/or sicknesses held here at Into the Elements; OPTIONAL: and to then provide some kind of reward or medal in recognition of their noble sacrifices; OPTIONAL: to also enact into the rules of the site some kind of "inactive time limit" and have the Death List be the consequence for any long-term, unexcused absence that is to be given. Purposes:
RANDOM THOUGHT: I just realized where the whole layout of this post came from. It resembles much of some kind of presentation to enacting Bills to the Senate and the Supreme Court. I had been doing a lot of that in my law class in school lately (which I'm almost done with due to it being only a semester-long class; YES!) and now I guess I'm used to organizing things that way. Heh...
Well, if you REALLY need some LeafClan deaths, you could always kill Mossclaws father...I don't use him, and he's basically just a vague background character... |
Yeah, I was thinking that at first (he'd make a good victim for a sickness), but two things: one, I had already recently killed off Tawnytail, and I'd like to wait a bit after such a thing happening; and two, I want to keep the apprentices busy still, so that's the main purpose of Wolfstripe still being there. |
This is a great idea. I have noticed that very, very few cats have died or even been seriously injured in any of the battles that have taken place. Aurorastar and I were discussing setting up a specific amount of time after which a cat would be suspended. I was thinking that a cat would be suspended after X amount of time, and be put on the death list after Y amount of time. On a somewhat related note, I've gone through and suspended all the profiles of cats whose owners have disappeared. Unfortunately, the multi-moderation thing I set up still leaves the name of the topic in the forum, so it looks kind of ugly. Maybe I'll put everything in alphabetical order or something... I'll set up a topic once I stop being lazy, unless anyone has any objections to this. |
Random thought: You know, in our cat profiles, we always say 'their parents died from this or that', but now it's like... no cat dying o.O |
