Well, hold on, FYI: the first one doesn't EXACTLY have to be imperative, but I'd really appreciate it. Just seemed a bit of a strong word when I first typed it...
But anyways, here goes...: --- RULE SUGGESTION #1: I think this is actually more of a cat-creation restriction (kinda like the name restrictions and kit-making we've been doing). I'd like to add a new restriction to any "descendants" of EarthClan: um, no simpler way to put this, none at all. And while I'm suddenly on the subject, let me just take a minute to explain myself (mostly for the benefit of those who have actually done this...). I have three main points to this:
).
~~~ RULE SUGGESTION #2: I'm not sure exactly where this would file under the different sections of the roleplaying rules, but I think of it as a RP-posting rule. I'll let the admins decide where to file it IF they decide to keep it, but I think that to better enhance the storyline and make this a bit more fun to both read and type, this should be added. I'd like to suggest adding a rule regarding the length of posts (except for special circumstances, like with dialogue or something all to avoid powerplaying). I've noticed quite a few one-liners around here that don't really describe what's happening with their cat, how it is feeling, or even its surroundings. They're very vague and they kinda get on my nerves. So, to kinda wrap this shortly (I think I failed at that already... ), I think we're all old and mature enough to a certain level that we are able to type more than just one sentence. 'Kay?
--- I hope I don't need to go into more depth than all of that, but that's pretty much what I'd like to suggest for this site. If there's any questions, please ask me; I'll be standing by...
Rule one makes sense, story-wise. Kind of like how people don't realize that Stormclan is a bunch of rogues that left Rogueclan. I'll make a note somewhere under character creation for you. Rule two is a bit of a pet peeve for me. Sometimes, if you're in the middle of a conversation, you only need one line. On another site I go to, people in charge of RP's frequently add "You have to post at least x sentances" rules, and frankly, it makes me feel like I'm in third grade, trying to write a paragraph. I'm short on time, so I'll add to this later... EDIT: You can't really set a quantity that people need to post, or it'll favor quantity over quality. I'd rather have two meaningful lines than five paragraphs of purple prose. Of course, constanly spewing beige one-liners is bad, too. There needs to be a balance between the two, and setting an absolute for that is kind of difficult. Overall, I'd say to aim for a paragraph with each post, but don't fill it up with useless purple fluff do it. |
*nods* Rule One makes a lot of sense. Besides, EarthClan IS your creation and as such you have every right to say what should/should not happen with it. I kinda agree with Galeclaw about Rule Two, after all I kinda AM one of those one-liner people (*hides* don't hurt me!). But to help cut back on those kinda people I was disscussing with Galeclaw a kind of RP Boot Camp.... Details later... |
Rule #1: Great; glad that was settled.
Rule #2: Yes, I see what both of you are saying, especially Galeclaw. I actually have never viewed it that way before when I have looked at other sites do the same! We really shouldn't have the focus be quantity over quality, so I suppose that's still a bit open for debate on how to settle something like that. I'll be willing to participate and contribute to something like that; and perhaps by doing that, we can kinda get a message across to the members that this is what roleplaying is about: creating a story not for the sake of getting things to move, but moving it in such a fashion that it's enjoyable to read back and yet enjoy the moment at the same time. Meh, something around those lines, but yeah, we'll leave that open as of now for further elaboration. I actually really like that whole "Roleplay Boot Camp" thing you are talking about, Aurorastar. I think I've seen a wolf RP do something like that, except it was called "something-school of Wolf Roleplaying" or somewhere around those lines. They had it password-protected so that you could only go there either if the player asks one of the admins, or if they were told to go there and were just given the password. There, they would post the best RP post they can, and then the "teachers" would break it apart and give suggestions on how to further elaborate on those parts. I thought it was very smart, and it seemed to work for new players that were signing up there. |
