"Being a parent's a big responsibility," Luke said as he squeezed Matt's hand. "Just be sure that it's something you really want, because there's no turning back once that little bundle of joy's in your arms." |

"You sound like a parent yourself," Matt laughed as they approached some guests, "I think I'd be lucky to build a family with such a compassionate, wise man." |

"I am not perfect"I said glancing over at Max. I never told him something that happened to me in high school that still hurts to think about."Max I have something to tell you I am just afriad they will make you look at me differently. The only other people that know anything is my mother and Aunt Fancy. If my uncle Luis knew he would of killed someone." |

I looked at Jane with concern and took her hand in mine. "Whatever it is, you can tell me," I assured her. "Look, I'm not perfect, either. There's things in my past that I'm ashamed of, too. I want us to have an open, honest relationship where we can tell each other anything, alright?" Luke kissed Matt's cheek as they approached their guests. "Hey, Zack," Luke said. "Been working on your basketball technique?" "No time with Dad running me ragged at the hospital," Zack replied. |

"We're going to get out Saturday and run some drills, okay?" Matt suggested, "After you finish opening all those gifts my family sent for you." |

"Yeah," Zack said. "Tell them I said thanks for the new bike. And Lucas loves all his gifts, too. He loved the boxes the toys came in more than the toys themselves, though." |

Matt laughed, "I'm sure that eventually the toys will catch his attention. But my family isn't exactly great at the toys for babies." |

"Dad and Emily are getting married on Valentine's Day," Zack told them. " Do you think you two will get married someday?" Luke almost choked on the punch he was drinking. |

"Gay weddings... are a little different," Matt explained to Zack, trying not to embarrass Luke too much, "I don't know if I believe in marriage, anyway. If you love somebody, why do you need to throw some party and put it down on paper?" |

"Because if it's not down on paper, then Emily can't adopt me, and Dad can't adopt Lucas," Zack replied. "If you really love someone, why shouldn't you get married? Dad and Emily love each other and they're getting married." |

"Yeah, but your dad and Emily can love each other without getting married. They have extenuating circumstances that are making them get it down on paper," Matt explained. |

"Yeah," Luke said as he squeezed Matt's hand. "I love Matt wether we're married or not. Love is the only thing that matters." |

"Besides, it's not legal for us to get married," Matt explained to Zack. |

"What if it was?" Zack asked. "What if you could get legally married? Would you do it then?" |

Matt looked at Luke, whose cheeks were bright red. "I would... consider it. Zack, what's got you so marriage crazy?" |

"Because I'm finally getting a Mom," Zack told him. "And if Dad and Emily can make it, anybody can. Who knows? Maybe the law will change and you can be married, too." |

"Keep your fingers crossed," Matt told him, messing up his hair a little bit. "So, Zack, how's the servitude to your dad going?" |

"Horrible," Zack told him. "Everything has to be perfect in his office. Did you know that he keeps everything color coordinated? Even his pens?" |

"No way," Matt laughed, looking at Luke, "I thought my boyfriend was the only person that organized." |

"Hey, I've never color coordinated anything but my clothes," Luke replied with a laugh. |

"True... wow, color coding pens? My cousin's kind of a slob. How does that work? Are you the maid at home?" Matt questioned. |

"With Emily at the hospital and Dad watching after Lucas, someone has to be," Zack replied with a sigh. "Poor kid," Luke said. "Hey, why don't you come spend the weekend with us sometime? It'll give you a break from being a grown up." |

"He's right. We'd love to have you over, just like when you stayed with us at the house," Matt said. |

"And since I'm pretty much the maid around the dorm, you won't have to do any work," Rex replied. |

"Awesome, I'll talk to Emily about it when we have coffee in two days. For tonight, you should be good. You know Santa's coming later," Matt smiled at Zack. |
