"I'd love to." I quickly replied. I set my purse on the sofa and took off my coat. I wasn't sure where exactly to hang it, so I just draped it over the sofa. I figured that it wasn't hurting anything there and that nothing would happen to it. "Show me the way because I'd get lost in this place within two minutes if you weren't here." |

I took hold of her hand and led her up to the nursery. Andy and Colton were sleeping peacefully in one crib, and Patrick and Emily's baby, Hope, was laying in the other. "Aren't they adorable?" I asked, careful not to speak too loudly. |

I lead Spinelli over to the crib and stopped right in front of it. For some reason, I didn't bother to drop his hand. I didn't think too much of it since I was busy admiring the children. "They really are cute." I whispered in agreement. All three of them were beautiful kids and they were very well behaved. Either they were complete angels or Spinelli got them to all sleep on his own...or it was a mix of the two. I chose to go with the mix. "Was it hard to get them to go to sleep?" |

"Not really," I told her. "I just played some lullabies for them on my laptop. Plus Zack was watching the real terror of the group, so I had no fear of them waking up." |

"It looks like they really loved whatever lullabies you played for them." I commented with a smile. They looked so peaceful right now...like three tiny little angels. I knew that they would eventually wake up and be loud, but at least they were quiet and perfect right now. "They look like they could sleep for a while, so I don't think they will be waking up any time soon." |

"Yeah, they were really tuckered out," I told her. "You'd be amazed at all the baby toys Nikolas has for his kids. It's like a baby amusement park." |

I laughed softly and glanced over at Spinelli. "I can only imagine how many toys Nikolas has for his kids." I said. Nikolas was an extremely wealthy man...well he kinda had to be in order to afford a place like this, so I figured that he spoiled his kids rotton. I couldn't blame him for it though; I'd do the same if I had kids and a lot of money. |

I saw Zack come rolling in with Lucas in his lap, rubbing his eyes. I picked Lucas up and held him. "And here's the last member of our crew," I told Nadine. "He's ready for bed, too. Nadine, this is Zack, my helper for the night." Zack smiled at Nadine and waved. |

I smiled at Zack and waved. He seemed like a very mature little boy, so it made sense that he would be helping Spinelli out with the other kids. "Hi Zack." I greeted. He was a friendly little boy, which was great. I had a feeling that we would get along well. "Spinelli is really fortunate to have such a great helper like you to help him with all of these kids." |

Zack smiled as he looked up at her. "Zack's mute," I whispered. "Some pyscho slit his throat last year and severed his vocal chords." I put Lucas into the child sized bed Nikolas had in the room, and tucked him in. |

"I had no idea. I am so sorry." I whispered back. I didn't have the slightest clue that Zack was mute and I felt awful for trying to talk to him when there was no way that he could say anything back to me. "Is he going to recover from that?" I quietly asked him. It was sick that some freak did this to him. Who would hurt a little boy? Only a twisted, disturbed individual would do such a thing. |

"Patrick's been looking into different procedures, but hasn't turned up anything affordable just yet," I told her. Zack still managed to stay strong, even after all the hell he'd gone through. "He's pretty much the only one who can keep little Lucas under control." |

I nodded and then glanced over at Zack. It was terrible that such a sweet little boy had to go through such a horrible experience. I wished that Patrick could find a prodecure that was affordable and definite. Patrick Drake was good doctor, so I had faith that he would eventually find something. "Patrick will find something. He seems to really care about Zack, as well as all of his patients. Besides, Patrick has too much pride to fail at something." |

"Too true," I said. "Hey, while the young ones are sleeping, why don't I take both of you to the kitchen and make some of my special hot chocolate?" |

"I'd like that." I replied with a smile. I loved hot chocolate, so how could I refuse a cup of it? Besides, I had a feeling that Spinelli made a mean cup of hot chocolate by the way that he was talking. "I can't wait to try your specialty." I walked over to the door and made my way downstairs. I stopped by the staircase on the main floor, unsure where exactly the kitchen was in this mansion. |

I pushed Zack's wheelchair toward the staircase. Nikolas had one of those things installed so Zack could ride his way down. I saw he making sign language gestures. "Yeah, I do like her," I told him. "But there's no way she could be interested in the Jackal as more than a friend." Zack continued signing. It's a good thing the Jackal had learned how to communicate with him. "No, the Jackal will not put the moves on her," I told him. "She's a lady, and I will respect her." I got Zack to the stairwell and helped him into the seat so he could ride downstairs. "The kitchen's only a few miles from here," I joked to Nadine. |

"That's a relief because I didn't bring my hiking boots." I jokingly replied with a smile. Once Zack was down stairs and back on solid ground, I followed the two of them into the kitchen. When Spinelli said 'kitchen' he should have said 'cooking facility' because the place was gigantic. I figured that three cooks, and their crew, could fit into this one kitchen. "Wow, Nikolas sure goes all out on all aspects of his home." I commented with a small laugh. I walked over to the kitchen table and took a seat. I could never dream of living in a place such as this. Since my future consisted of a small apartment, I was going to enjoy every second that I was in this large mansion. |

I started getting all of the ingredients I needed out of the cabinet. Milk, chocolate, whipped cream, and a few secret indgredients. While Spinelli was busy making the hot chocolate, Zack scribbled on his little dry erase board with a marker. "Do you like him?" |

I looked over at Zack's dry erase board and was taken back by what he had written. I had no idea that I was that transparent. Maybe I smiled at him too much...looked at him for too long...or something like that. Regardless, I wasn't even sure if Spinelli even liked me like that. For all I knew, he just considered me to be a friend. I took the dry erase board, along with the marker, and wiped off what Zack wrote with his cloth. I then wrote 'Yes' on the board with the marker and passed the board back to him. |

"He had his heart broke before you started at the hospital," I wrote. "I really like Spinelli. He's smiling again now that you're hanging out with him." |

I took the dry erase board and marker back from Zack, erased what he put and then wrote down my reply. I knew that Zack was looking out for Spinelli and I respected that, but I had no intention on hurting Spinelli. I liked him and I'd never break his heart. I passed the board back once I was finished. I had written the following: 'I won't hurt him. I don't hurt people that I care about. Spinelli is the nicest guy that I've ever met and I'd be a fool to cause him any kind of pain'. |

Zack smiled as he wrote back. "Good, because I like you, too. You're pretty cool." I was putting the finishing touches on the hot chocolate, hoping my friends would enjoy it. I shook the can of whipped cream and topped it off. "Here we go," I said as I brought them a cup. "Hope you like it." |

I quickly wiped off the board that Zack and I had been writing on and turned towards Spinelli. I could smell the hot chocolate from here; it had a wonderful scent to it. "This smells delicious." I commented with a smile. I took my cup from Spinelli and took a sip of the hot chocolate. It was hot, but oh so good. "And it tastes delicious too. You should consider selling this recipe to the coffee shop in town. You'd make a killing." |

"I don't know, the Jackal's never been interested in financial gain," I said shyly. But I was glad they were enjoying the hot chocolate. It was a recipe from my Grammy. It was one of the few bright spots I had growing up. |

I respected that Spinelli wasn't all too eager to make a quick buck. That showed me that he valued many other things in life over money, which was rare. Some men were just concerned about money and money only. Spinelli was really one of a kind. "I think that's great. You can just keep this recipe in the family then. Pass it down to your kids and they can pass it to theirs." |
