"Well, as much as the Jackal would love to have children, it doesn't appear to be in the future just yet," I said as I sat down with my cup. The Jackal was still a virgin. I was waiting for true love to find me, which seemed like it was never going to happen. "Or maybe I can pass it on to the twins when they get old enough." |

"You could always do that." I replied with a small smile. I took another sip of my hot chocolate and looked over at Zack. I was sure that if Spinelli somehow didn't have any children, that all of the kids here would be more than willing to take down the recipe, when they got older of course. "Regardless, this recipe is too goo not to pass on to somebody." |

"Thanks," I said as my cell phone rang. I looked at the number, it was Dr. Drake. He told me that Noah had been in a bad accident and asked if I could keep Lucas and Hope a bit longer, and to not tell Zack. "Of course. I'll keep them a bit longer. Just take care, alright?" I hung up and looked over at Zack. "Patrick's got take care of something, so he's going to be late, so I guess you're stuck with me a bit longer, pal." |

I looked over at Spinelli and then at Zack. I smiled over at the little boy and took his dry erase board. I wrote 'It won't be *that* bad. lol' on the board and then passed it back to Zack. I laughed softly and took another sip of my hot chocolate. "We can watch a movie or something until Patrick gets back." I told the both of them. I figured that would be a nice, quiet activity for all of us to enjoy. |

"Well, Nikolas does have a rather extensive DVD collection," I said. "Why don't I clean up and make a bowl of popcorn and you two can go pick out a movie?" |

I glanced over at Zack and then looked back over at Spinelli. I didn't want him to have to make the popcorn since he already made me this hot chocolate, but he insisted and I wasn't going to argue with him. "Okay, we can definitely pick out a movie." I said with a smile. I grabbed Zack's board and wrote 'Let's go pick out a movie' and passed it back to him. |

Zack looked at Nadine and started wheeling his chair toward the other room where Nikolas his DVDs. "He's a great guy," I said as I started looking for the popcorn. "He normally doesn't get attached to people this quickly." |

"He's a special little boy and I'm honored to be spending time with him." I replied with a smile. I thought that Zack was very mature, very responsible and a fun little kid. He seemed to enjoy life even though he had a disability. I thought that was really something and I had such high respect for him. "Maybe he feels comfortable around me because I'm used to working with people at the hospital." |

"That's why you'll make a great parent someday, too," I told her. "You care about people." |

I smiled and shrugged. Honestly, with the way that Jolene snapped, I wasn't sure if I wanted kids. What if poor mental health, and the possibility of going crazy, was hereditary? I definitely did not want that to happen to my child. "I do care about people. As for children, time will tell on that one." |

"Well, The Jackal would love to babysit for them someday," I offered with a laugh as the popcorn started popping in the microwave. |

I laughed and started to head out of the kitchen. I stopped and turned to face Spinelli. "If I ever have kids, you'll be the first one that I call when I am need of a sitter." With that, I turned back around and went to join Zack in the living room. |

Zack was looking through the DVDs as Nadine approached. "What do you want to see?" Zack wrote. |

I looked through the DVD's that Nikolas had and pulled out 'Wild Hogs'. I smiled and flipped it over to see what the exact rating was. I wasn't sure if Zack would be able to watch this one, but I'd ask Spinelli and see what he said. I held up the movie to Zack and smiled, indicating my choice. |

I brought the popcorn into the room and looked at the DVD. "Yeah, it's cool, Zack's seen worse," I said. Plus the kid was 16, even if he didn't look it. |

I let out a small sigh of relief and looked over at Zack. I wondered how old he was exactly, but from the way that Spinelli answered me, he was definitely above 13. If I had to guess, I'd go with 14. "Okay, good." I smiled and put the DVD in the DVD player. "The popcorn smells great," I told Spinelli. I could smell it all the way over from the television set and it smelled delicious. |

"Well, popcorn is one the many delicasies I'm skilled at making," I said with a smile as I sat down next to them. I put the popcorn in Zack's lap so all of course could share it. |

I grabbed the remote to the TV, flipped the TV on and then grabbed the remote for the DVD player. I hit 'play' on that and then joined Zack and Spinelli over on the couch. I reached across and grabbed some popcorn from the bowl. "You are also skilled at making hot cocoa, as we all know." I added with a smile. I ate the popcorn that I had grabbed and then relaxed into the sofa a bit. |

It wasn't long before Zack had fallen asleep inbetween us. I smiled over at Nadine. "Poor kid's all tuckered out," |

I looked over at Zack, smiled and then nodded in agreement. "It sure looks like it," I replied. I wondered if we should put him to bed, or if he was too old for that sort of thing. The last thing that I wanted was for Zack to feel like we were treating him like a child. "Do you want to get him upstairs or should we just let him crash here?" |

"Let's let him crash here," I told her. "Take off his shoes and we'll let him lay down here." Zack was a pretty heavy sleeper, so the kid could probably sleep just about anywhere we put him. |

"Sounds good to me," I replied and quickly got up off of the couch. I bent down and removed Zack's shoes. I set them off to the side and then stood up. I then grabbed a blanket and covered him up. "Hopefully he is comfortable enough." |

"Yeah, he looks totally peaceful," I told her as I looked at Nadine and smiled. Too bad Zack's biological dad was such a monster. Zack was the complete opposite of that abusive tool. |

I glanced back over at Zack and watched him sleep for a couple of seconds. I knew that he had a hard life, but when he was sleeping like this...it was as if everything was okay in the world for him. I grabbed the remotes, shut the DVD off and then flipped off the TV set. "How about we go back into the kitchen and talk?" I suggested to Spinelli with a small smile. |

"Sure," I said as I followed her into the kitchen. I felt better knowing Nadine was here. Zack and the kids would be safe with someone caring like her around. |
