I walked into the park, holding a small map of Westland in my hands. I probably looked really stupid with a map in such a small town, but I needed to get familiarized with Westland. Since I didn't know anybody here, this was the best way to learn where everything was at, well besides the diner. I knew where that was at since I just got a job there. So far, I had located the bank, the local grocery store, the police department and the park, which was where I happened to be right now. "Now, where is the hospital at?" I pondered out loud as I rotated the map around a couple of times. I figured that I might need to know where that was at in case I ever had some kind of an accident or emergency. I soon gave up on trying to find it and sat down on an empty park bench. "I hate maps," I muttered to myself and sat the Westland map next to me. |

I'd just gotten back into town, and was extremely tired. I looked like a train wreck, with ragged clothes and mussed hair, but at least I was away from there. I saw a girl with a map, and tried to make my way to her before they saw me. I got closer and just collapsed from dehydration. |

I saw a man walk into the park and figured that he knew where the hospital was at. I quickly made my way over to him and stooped once I got a good look at him. His clothes were ragged, his hair was a mess and he basically looked like hell. "Are you-?" That's all I got out before he collapsed. I gasped and quickly threw myself on the ground next to him. I checked for a pulse and was relieved to find one. He may not be dead, but something was terribly wrong with him. "Hey, can you hear me?" I shook him a little bit, hoping to jolt him back into consciousness. I pulled out my phone to call 911, but found the screen dark. I couldn't believe that I was stupid enough to forget to charge it. "Oh no! please....why now?!" I shook my phone, willing it to turn back on. I soon tossed it back into my purse and turned my attention back to the stranger that I was trying to tend to. |

I saw the girl coming toward me as I collapsed. I tried to raise my head, hoping she wasn't one of them. "Don't let them get me,"I pleaded as I tried to stay awake. I was too wiped to go into detail, I just had to make sure I got to a safe place before it was too late. |

"Them? Is someone after you?" I looked around and didn't see anybody in the immediate area. I wondered if this guy was running from the police or if a group of people were after him for money or some kind of a possession. I figured it was the second of those scenarios because he didn't look or sound like a bad person. I really wished that I could have located the hospital on that map now, because this guy should really get medical attention. "Do you want me to take you to the hospital?" If I could help him walk out of here, I might be able to flag someone down who knew where the hospital was at. |

"No," I said. They'd find me for sure if I went there. "No hospitals... have to find a place to hide. They have... people everywhere." I had to find a place to recover. I had to find my sister and make sure she was safe. |

I looked around the park and bit my lip. I still didn't see anyone, but that didn't mean that this 'they' that he kept referring to, would show up at any minute. He didn't want to go to the hospital, so I was going to respect his wishes. "How about I take you to my apartment? It's not far from here and you can recover there and get your strength back." Perhaps he could call the police and get them to step in once he was in a better physical state. He really looked terrible, so he needed to recuperate. |

I was too weak to refuse. I had to get out of public before I was found and taken back to the place where I'd been a captive at for the last six months. "Thank you," I said as I tried to stand up. |

I noticed that he was having trouble standing up and I wasn't surprised. He looked like he was in real rough shape and his energy was basically drained. I had no idea what had happened to him, but I imagined that it was pretty awful. "Here, let me help you up." I slowly helped him up to his feet and put his arm around me. I thought that if he leaned on me, that he'd be able to make the short walk back to my apartment. I still thought that going to the hospital would be his best way to recover, but I told him that I wouldn't take him there and I wasn't going back on my word. "Just lean on me and we'll go real slow, okay?" |

"Okay," I said as I leaned on her. As long as we got out of the public before I was spotted. I just need to get my strength back and I can try to contact my dad. He went through the same hell that I just did, and he can help me before this gets worse. |

I felt his weight and slowly walked with him out of the park. I debated about stopping by a pharmacy for some supplies to help him, but I knew that we needed to get straight to my apartment before he outright collapsed. I didn't know this man was or what his story was, but what I did know was he needed someone and I was going to help him. |

I held onto her as we walked along. "Thank you. I'll pay you back for your help, I promise." |

I glanced over at him and shook my head. It was very noble for him to want to pay me back, but I didn't want anything in return. I was once depending on the Manning's and Dorian and I couldn't pay them back for their help, so I'd be an awful person if I expected this guy to pay me back in some way. "That isn't necessary...." I realized that I didn't know his name. I thought that we really should at least know each other's first names so we didn't have to call each other by 'hey you' or anything like that. "What's your name?" |

"Jack," Was all I could manage to get out. I wasn't sure if I could trust her with my last name yet. Odds are they had people out looking for me, and I told her my last name was Deveraux and the wrong person got wind of it... |

Okay, so I wasn't going to get a last name. Oh well, I was more than fine with having his first name. Now I had something to call him, which would definitely come in handy if we wanted to have an actual conversation. "I'm Langston." I figured that I'd just give him my first name as well. Besides, I couldn't risk Dorian catching wind that I was hiding out here because that would spell disaster. "I wish we could have met under better circumstances, but it's nice to meet you." I told him with a shrug. |

"Nice to... meet you to," I told her as I continued to lean on her for support. I don't know how much longer I could go on before I passed out from dehydration and exhaustion. I'd been running non stop for days, trying to get someplace safe. |

I noticed that he was putting more of his weight on me, which meant that he was getting tired. I wondered if we should stop and rest or if stopping now meant that he wouldn't be able to start walking again. "Hey...Jack, do you want to stop for a minute or do you think we should keep going?" I asked. I'd let him make the call. It all depended on what he physically felt like doing. ooc: Langston needs an apartment lol. I didn't see a forum request thread, so I figured that I'd just ask here

"Have to... have to keep going," I said, out of breath. I couldn't let us get caught, not when I'd just spent months planning my escape. I had to get somewhere to rest. |

"Okay; we'll keep going." I didn't feel the need to argue with him. If he felt that he was fit to keep walking, then we wouldn't stop. Besides, I was kind of worried about him being able to stand back up if we were to sit down for a couple of minutes. This way, we were sure to make it to my apartment. ooc: moving them there... |
