My daughter bless her heart, bought me a new Coach purse while in New Orleans at an outlet store. She says it's my Christmas gift but gave it to me while I was in Calgary. She paid 170.00 U.S. so probably 220.00 Cad. I saw an identical one in the West Edmonton Mall today for 380.00, a happy moment indeed. I have been using one continuously that I purchased in an outlet in Carlsbad Ca. in 2010, it's just beginning to show some wear. I would not pay the prices here though, and of course they never go on sale!

Very nice indeed. If it lasts for 10 years it must be worth it. I would never pay that for a purse.

Can you post a picture swing?

I was in Stratford at my birthday time . I shopped. I found a purse I loved. It was an original made by an artist in Oakville. It is unique. I cost me 400 dollars. I dont pay that kind of money for anything but theatre and art. But I loved it. I have had so many women stop me and say - where did you get that purse. I tell them and hope they get the word out.

That is the joy of owning something unique. I'll treasure this purse forever. I dont care who else does. It gave me joy.

Good for you. I like coach and they do last and when i bought mine in 2010 I bought D one as well. They are also classic and don't go out of style. I cannot however bring myself to pay Cad. prices.

Agate ~I don't remember how to post a pic. or I would. It's just a normal big black hand bag, ones pays for the name like any other designer. Perhaps i can find one online and post it.

Swing, isn't it a good feeling to get something that makes you happy and you know you'll be using for another ten years.

Agora, you bought your purse in Stratford? Do you remember which store? I'm going to be there in the next couple of weeks. I've been looking for the right purse and wallet.

I did see just the right wallet so asked the lady in the grocery line where she bought it - at a garage sale about twenty years ago. 😕

Wallets are either too big or too small. The small ones don't accommodate our plastic bills or have enough room for all our coins. I've cut down on store loyalty cards by photographing them on my smart phone.

Shorty, are you going for the Festival? Still a few shows going. How I envy you. I'd move back in a second if I could.

I'm trying to remember the name of the store but cant yet. It is primarily a woman's clothing store. It's on Ontario street. The store at the corner is Indigena ( with inuit stock). There is Gordon's men's wear. I think it is next to that. On it's other side is The Wardrobe. Across the street is Pazzo - restaurant. BTW the street level part of Pazzo has fabulous food and service. The lower level is for pizza - still good but I like the ambiance and the choices of the upper level.

I think the corner is Downie and Ontario.

Angora, we're going to be there for two nights, to a show on one. I'm ashamed to say as a child in southern Ontario, I never went to the theatre. It wasn't "cool". Other than driving through, our timing has always been too busy with family. We made ourselves find the time now.

I've now entered Pazzo as a place for one evening meal. Any other suggestions that are in walking distance of downtown?

I'll also be checking out the clothing store. Don't you love a town that is small enough to describe locations the way you did?

I was in Bracebridge today and stopped into a new & used store for ladies clothing. The used Coach purses still had hefty prices on them.

They had free parking downtown. What a joy.

shorty, what are you seeing? If it is at the Avon, you are close to Foster's - it's good. Also close to Keystone Alley which has opened under new management. It used to be excellent - hope it still is.

If you are shopping you might want to take in Cora's. There is one a few steps from Pazzo. I buy most of my clothes there. Also in that area is The Scottish Shop - worth a look and Watson's Bazaar - they have a real eclectic vibe AND resident cats. Further along from them is Mercer - interesting, mainly good food but very limited choice.

There is nowhere to eat around the Festival Theatre - before the show you can get snacks and beverages in the lounge though.

One of my fav restaurants is The Olde Plum but better carry a heavy wallet if you go there.

Angora, we went to see Chorus Line on Saturday night. Our plan had been to stay two nights in Stratford but I wasn't happy with the limited selections of hotels and cancelled the second night. Very glad I did. It had mixed reviews and we ended up in the marginal section.

The weather was lovely and we did lots of walking, together and separately. Even though I knew I wanted to eat at Pazzo, I never thought to make reservations days ahead of time. Both places were booked for dinner. We got into Taverna for lunch. It was very filling so we ordered a takeout pizza for dinner. We were plenty full.

I checked out the stores you recommended but didn't buy anything. My suitcase is quite full.

We enjoyed the show. How to locals afford to attend? Seasons tickets? Discounts?

We thoroughly enjoyed everything except the hotel. The countryside is beautiful.

Thanks for your advice.

Shorty, We saw A CHORUS LINE twice in the week it started in Public Theater 41 years ago. The second evening a woman in the tightest white bejeweled dress you have ever seen came twisting her way down the aisle asking if anyone would give up his seat for her. Nobody did so she sort of sat/lay sideways in the aisle since she couldn't bend at the knees. It was Diana Ross.

The show was one of if not THE the theatrical phenomenon of its day with all of New York trying to cram into one of the Newman theater's 232 seats (exactly what happened with HAMILTON 4 decades latter.) Seems every decade or two the Public produces a show that is such a mega smash that the theater (like 4 of them) can produce anything they want for twenty more years in addition to offering free Shakespeare in the Park every Summer with the proceeds of the hit when it moves to Broadway, Hollywood, and the World. <Their first mega hit was a little show called HAIR, and that show BUILT the Public Theater complex>

As I recall, tickets to CL downtown were $3.50 per.
