My last dental appt. 8 months ago my dentist noticed a lesion in the roof of my mouth. He referred me to a pathologist on the S. Side of the city. I live in the west end and we have a large office of specialists within 5 minutes driving of my house! I digress, however the lesion was benign but he suggested I get it removed by his buddy at U of A! I declined, I do not go under the knife for a minute lesion that is benign. He also told me it could vanish on it's own, presently it's about the size of a pin head. I just rec'd notice of a follow up appt. I declined. He came back to me with this snarky e-mail asking me if anyone had looked in my mouth with a light and told me this lesion was basically nothing to be concerned about, not his choice of words but meaning the same! I replied no they had not, but it's now the size of a pin head and I'm not worried. They booked another follow up appt. for 7:25 at night the end of Nov. I do not drive at night to the S, side of the city. I'm ticked and feel I'm being pressured into honouring this appt. when i feel it's a total waste of time, just $$ in his pocket! |

I just got a new PC who is referral crazy, and a pushy fussbudget. Shopping for another. All I want is for these greedy bastards to write out the prescriptions I want and to do the tests I think I need and to keep any other nonsense to themselves. Everything else I can manage for myself and HAVE for 73 years. Swing, I can relate: A friend had a lesion removed from her back. Naturally she was told it tested as melanoma (or so they said, else insurance might not have paid for cosmetic procedures.) They booked her for a follow up appointment to look at the now fully healed surgical spot , which she cancelled. They BILLED her for not keeping the appointment so now every month she is getting another bill and every month she has to fight them about it, to no avail. These doctors operate a merry-go-round referral service which gets them kickbacks and that new Mercedes. Edited by Trotsky, Jan 20 2017, 02:32 AM.

Reminds me I have to call this audiologist, not having my # is a good excuse, however they will likely invoice unless I cancel. I'm like you, can manage my own health, just back off with your needless referrals! Have an appt. for my cataracts in March that's a necessity, I can only manage one thing at a time! |

She neither made the appointment nor assented to it. She may not have cancelled it. My impression is that she didn't even KNOW about it. Perhaps something like "I'll see you in 3 weeks" from the doctor? I don't want to clarify it with her because if I ask her about it, I will have my ear bent for an hour about her aches and pains. I dare not even greet her with "How are you?" without kissing half my morning goodbye. I once tried "That's a greeting, not a question" but it shot right over her head. She actually sees 3 doctors a week because "everything hurts." I like hyperbole but this is not. And she wonders why her savings account isn't growing. |
