Wow, nice blog, nice place, Annie! DW and I are kayakers, too. Just on lakes and rivers. Alan, New Zealand is on the map here. On Tuesday the butter at the grocery store was all from NZ. Half pounds. Looks like our marketing board miscalculated how much butter we need and fed too much to the pigs. The largest Christmas present in our house is still in its box from Ashburton, NZ. I'll send a picture of it when we get it assembled. I'm hoping our son will help on Christmas Day. I trust the factory survived the quake. Posted Image |

What is it with NZ being left off so many maps these days?

Being so far under they get shaken off when an earthquake takes place and they get shaken off when the pictures are taken. |

I think the problem is it is located at the edge of the Eurocentric world. The one in the first post. I used to keep maps posted in my classroom, every one with some kind of distortion. I recall one map of Canada deliberately politically distorted so every square cm had the same population. I'm ashamed to say I never had one with a Southern Hemisphere viewpoint. |
