Israel promises retaliation over UN vote after recalling ambassador from NZ
Source Link
A rather neat way of publicising and explaining the problems of the Middle East.

... Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' office said the vote was "a big blow" to Israeli policy and a show of "strong support for the two-state solution".
The resolution reiterated that Israeli settlement was a "flagrant violation" of international law.
The US vetoed a similar resolution in 2011, the sole veto cast by the Obama administration at the security council. But its decision to abstain this time underlined the tension between Obama and Netanyahu.

I guess NZ's ambassador proposed the motion so he/she is taking the heat. But Netanyahu is blasting all 10 ambassadors involved.

I hope he overplays his hand. He is a Putin style bully who should be brought down big time.

As a small country we believe in being a member of the UN despite it's obvious deficiencies.

This was the only Security Council resolution calling on Israel to respect international law that Obama ever refused to veto. Under George W. Bush, six similar resolutions were allowed through.

Under H.W. Bush, nine resolutions critical of Israel were allowed through.

At the same time, Obama awarded Israel with its largest military aid package ever — signing a memorandum of understanding in September that would give it $38 billion over 10 years.

Less than a month ago, the American taxpayer Promised the Israeli State $38 billion over 10 years. "Written In Stone" (a legally binding document).

And today, Netanyahu and The Clowns are bad-mouthing Americans who he claims are just too dumb to recognize an "Injustice".... And the rudeness spewed from the mouths of Israel supporters is par for the course. Israel is "Special".

I think I would be demanding the return of the money.

It is not as though Israel is financially bankrupt.

The US-Israel Free Trade Agreement: Due for Cancellation?
Signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1985, the U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was our very first FTA.
Nearly a quarter century of trade flowing under the agreement reveals a number of negative, yet entirely predictable outcomes.
Adjusted for inflation the agreement has delivered a $62.65 billion dollar cumulative American trade deficit with Israel. Trade, roughly at parity before the agreement was penned, shifted in favor of Israeli exports to the US by the early 1990s. This imbalance accelerated after the post 9/11

AIPAC, Espionage and the US-Israel Free Trade Agreement
Documents:
The following document case file tracks the first US Free Trade Agreement signed with Israel in 1985. The lobbying battle pitted large US corporations, American industry associations, small fruit and vegetable growers and thousands of individual petitioners against the "American-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc." and American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC. American industries were shocked when the FBI began investigating AIPAC for obtaining and distributing the 300 page report containing their trade secrets titled "Probable Economic Effect of Providing Duty Free Treatment for U.S. Imports from Israel, Investigation No. 332-180" in the midst of the negotiations. The ITC later confirmed that the Israeli government also obtained the still-classified report. The document contains business confidential trade secrets, market share, inventory, delivery costs, internal production costs and other highly sensitive data US industries submitted under strict confidence to urge the best possible outcome for US businesses.
Since the agreement was signed, US trade with Israel swung from surplus to a $71 billion cumulative deficit in 2008—an anomaly among all other US bilateral agreements.

NSA shares raw intelligence including Americans' data with Israel
Secret deal places no legal limits on use of data by Israelis
Only official US government communications protected
Agency insists it complies with rules governing privacy
A memorandum of understanding between the NSA and its Israeli counterpart that shows the U.S. government handed over intercepted communications likely to contain phone calls and emails of American citizens. The agreement places no legally binding limits on the use of the data by the Israelis.

In 1975, Kissinger signed what forms the basis for the Haifa project: a Memorandum of Understanding whereby the US would guarantee Israel's oil reserves and energy supply in times of crisis.
The memorandum has been quietly renewed every five years, with special legislation attached whereby the US stocks a strategic oil reserve for Israel even if it entailed domestic shortages - at a cost of $3 billion (£1.9bn) in 2002 to US taxpayers.

Mouths filled with hatred
Father Samuel Aghoyan, a senior Armenian Orthodox cleric in Jerusalem's Old City, says he's been spat at by young haredi and national Orthodox Jews "about 15 to 20 times" in the past decade. The last time it happened, he said, was earlier this month. "I was walking back from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and I saw this boy in a yarmulke and ritual fringes coming back from the Western Wall, and he spat at me two or three times."
