I think I would jump off a bridge rather than go back to work. I hated every minute of every job I ever had.
I think my son is the same. He hated school too. He plays a great game of poker though.
:ChickenDance:
I suck at poker, always have. I guess it's my not having a poker face.

But I loved school, just not the stupid grind that came in the years afterwards. The nightmare of trying to make an hours worth of work stretch to 8 hours was beyond the pale. And catering to ignoramuses who happened to have the title of "boss" still gives me shivers all these years later. Making believe I was straight took a huge toll on my psyche.
My answer: retirement in 1973.

I just saw "Eclipse: the Quiet Wow."
Really well done. :-)
Thank you! Sometimes I think just going with the flow when in a mood to write is best. Other times I get carried away trying to perfect things only to give up and toss my work into the G file.

I am now at the point of am I ready? This does not always occur but when it does I get a little panicky. Rather than attempt to figure out what I am getting mired down with I have learned to just take the day off. I have four days left.

I am way behind with sending the blog to this site. One reason being I keep forgetting how to copy the whole handle. The other reason, well those of you who see this will know why.

Saying Farewell

By the time this post is published I will be in Shanghai. By the time this post is published I will have had long enough to stop crying. By the time this post is published Mozzy, my 15+ year old kitty, born in Nanning, China will have had his last bits of candied salmon before meeting his ancestors. This is a safe enough place to write what I am going through emotionally before we say goodbye to Mozzy. The decision was not easy to make - even with the support of our veterinarian. The practical side of me - a word I think was voiced far too often because what else can be said - knows the decision to stop treatment and let Mozzy be pain free is for the best. We know the decision has not nothing to do with my looming departure. And loom it does. Like a monster of guilt.

By George, I think she's got it! Perhaps it was just making the decision to post the previous entry.

Juxtapositions

Although I may have used this title in a blog on a previous trip to China, and perhaps I need to take a closer look at the definition, but it just seems to fit. For instance, Jing’An Temple in Shanghai underwent major renovations at various times since it was, according to various written information, built in 247AD, with the most recent construction finally finished in 2010. I thought I would never see what is behind the walls. When I lived in Shanghai the gates were closed and the ever present ugly green shroud common on every construction site in China was the only view. When I visited the temple seemed to have s pending opening date. Last year I managed a glimpse before the gates closed at 5:00PM. I thought I was fated to never see inside.

I am so sorry that you lost Mozzie. I know the pain of losing a dear pet (Sybil was 17 when we had to put her to sleep when her kidneys failed.)
Will you consider getting another kitten to help fill the hole left in your heart?

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your Mozzie, Blizzard.

I to know that one. Try not to feel guilty as now Mozzie is running pain free.

Blizzard: I am sorry you had to make the "right" but hard decision. Mozzy had a great life with you - he was well loved and very loving..

Oscar, Bertie and I are sad to hear that Mozzy had to leave. We have these wonderful long-term relationships but it is so hard when they come to an end.

You made the loving and unselfish decision to free Mozzy. You will always have special memories of your friend.

Just read your blog. Fascinating description of the noise at the Buddist shrine.

Thank you everyone. I do have my bad days, especially when I encounter cats - so far all at temples - who are probably in dire need of really good homes.
Trotsky, I doubt I will ever get another cat - too hard emotionally to say goodbye. My daughter said she might in a year. She also took it hard.

I was feeling a bit guilty hanging out in my AC room until I checked the temp & weather - again. 33c and still in the 40s for humidity. I decided, what the hell, I am paying for the room so why not stay in? I had already been to the Huizhou Culture Museum for two hours in the morning and worked out getting to an outdoor opera for the evening. After climbing up and down all those stairs the day before my knees can most likely use the rest.
