Unusual and adventurous foods but you obviously enjoyed them. Yesterday I met a couple from UK whose travelling companions are two small teddy bears. Like your pandas they post photos around the world of their ( the Bears) travels.

As I mentioned I am back in China, this has meant much gnashing of teeth and wringing of paws - the bears, as I attempt to upload photos. As a result I have one of two choices, post my entries in the hope the photos can be viewed, or not post at all. Then there is the whole issue of not having access to some sites! However, I did finally finish part one of my Huangshan trip.

Huangshan, Anhui China

Huangshan the city and scenic Huang Shan are two entities yet tied forever as a unit. The name Yellow Mountains was given for the Yellow Emperor, Huang Di in 747AD. Declared a world national heritage site in 1990 by UNESCO, the mountain has a long history for its natural beauty, Buddhist temples and natural hot springs. The day I visited I saw only beauty – sharp outcrops, cliff hanging trees, mists rolling and soaring mountains. Whether or not my photos will ever be included is dependant on what is allowed to go through while I am in China. While doing a preview they are not showing up. However, I will take a chance and post.

Huangshan: the missing photos

Although I said there is the thought that one mountain is much like another I still wanted to share these with readers. Most are just mountains, the others will make sense if the captions were read minus the photos in the previous post. (Window of opportunity has me thinking I had better try some of my other photos!)

Huangshan: Day 2

It appeared breakfast was not included after all although I only paid for this day for the time being. I had had too much bread in the past two days two days plus the delicious meal the previous night, which resulted in not being very hungry. I decided to save my boiled egg for lunch while I explored. My first stop was to the Huizhou Culture Museum. Fantastic discovery – it was free! I do not recall so many free museums from previous years; therefore, I am inclined to think this must be a way to encourage people to visit them so as to keep them running – it is the number of visitors versus the amount of money collected that will keep the coffers filled.

Great pics Blizzard, thanks for sharing. Question do they not refrigerate their eggs? When In P.V. Mexico a few years ago I noticed eggs in some of the stores were not refrigerated.

Swing, very often eggs are just left in a bag in a cool place - or not for that matter. Over all the years I lived in China, and have since travelled to Thailand and Vietnam, I never had an issue. I think eggs are eaten so often they do not have time to go bad. Either that or chemicals I prefer to not think about.

Looks stunning Blizzard. I am glad to explore it through you as I do not think I could go in there.
I have issues in confining spaces and tons of rock above me.

Nanjing

This portion of my trip was the first of a few very difficult ones to write about. I anguished over how to provide adequate words for why I was there and where I visited. To assist me I recorded snips to remind me of the immediate impact of the heartwrenching Museum of the Nanjing Massacre. Despite having a very firm grasp of the history of that era, particularly the horrid attacks by the Japanese on Nanjing, Shanghai and the surrounding areas, I was not prepared. Which brought me up short when I finally sat down to write.

Now that I have access to an actual laptop I can finally deal with my mess of photos. Of course, this delay has meant I no longer have such clear memories of the various little things that make a trip worthy of writing about! Although everyone here knows my trip ended a week ago, I will post photos and snippets on my blog rather than just leave everything hanging as though I suddenly tripped up. (That action really did just pop into my head - perhaps a nudge to finish this with a bang)

Vietnam: Hoi An (Central to North)

My ten day trip ended in Hoi An where I met with my daughter who had arrived there the previous day. Unfortunately, she was not happy with my choice of hotel and let me know it every s i n g l e day. We were there for FIVE days! This was a major reminder as to why I travel solo – I was beginning to doubt the upcoming four day trip we had booked would happen. So much so that by the second day I was in Hoi An I cancelled my driver and was looking into flights back to China or even home to Canada – always follow up on consequences once stated.
