If you are a consumer of gin .....

I have not had a gin drink for years & years, though at one time I liked gin & tonic.

Bombay Sapphire was my gin of choice. But, like you Agate I no longer drink it.

God forbid: TOO MUCH ALCOHOL. Are we sure that was a recall and not an ADVERTISEMENT?

I tried Bombay and judged it not worth the premium price.

My favorites are Beefeater's and Tanqueray but to save money I settle on Burnett's at near half the price: I pay $17.99 for a 1.75 Liter

Before Burnett's (formerly White Satin) I found Gilbey's my cheapy of choice. (I find Gordon's undrinkable except to mix with fruit or tonic.)

Hard conversation because May is a teetotal month.

I used to drink Tanqueray exclusively in my martinis but once I tasted the Bombay Sapphire I was hooked. My father still preferred Beefeater so we had a little gin collection in his house. :)

Does anybody imagine there are people stupid enough to return a bottle to the store?

A lady that I knew. I calculated the alcohol in all the stuff she drank, which was anything with alcohol, and found in general all booze was priced for the mount of alcohol it contained. Sales hype did the rest. I did find Saki was a bargain regarding alcoholic content.

You calculated wrong. You forgot to include the calculations for the fortified "bum wines" that run like 18% alcohol and cost very little. (Thinderbird, Wild Irish Rose and the like used to cost $1 a quart back when I was in high school and college. I think they still exist at about $3 a bottle...80% cheaper than the cheapest saki.

Henrick's Gin. Ever heard of it? A British friend and I had drinks and this is what she ordered. The next day I heard a fellow order the same. He wasn't a Brit.

Hendrick's Gin is a brand of gin produced by William Grant & Sons in Girvan, Scotland, and launched in 1999.[2] In addition to the traditional juniper infusion, Hendrick's uses Bulgarian rose and cucumber to add flavour

I have never tasted it, or seen it, but I think I might be put off by "rose and cucumber flavor."

I spotted one I had never tried, called NOLETS. Has anyone had it? A review I read was a little off-putting:

Quote:

The first thing that gin drinkers notice whether by scent or by taste is that the juniper is muted, almost missing
that's a big problem for me.

The floral scent is over the top. You smell rose when you open the bottle. The only comparable in this specific botanical is Hendrick’s. But Hendrick’s doesn’t take it anywhere near to the level that Nolet’s does. There’s notes of Lavender and other sweeter herbal notes.

Oh, Yeccchhhh on the rose.
I want alcohol and juniper...like Beefeater (but I cannot afford it as my regular gin any more, not at $40 a bottle <1.75L>) (Probably $50 Canadian.)
