Black Ferns beat hosts in Canada Women's Sevens final Posted Image New Zealand has won the Canada Women's Sevens. Black Ferns coach Allan Bunting says "D wins games" and it's hard to argue with him after New Zealand's 17-7 win over the host nation in Monday's Canada Women's Sevens final was inspired by a determined defensive display. Two early tries to Michaela Blyde and stand-in captain Tyla Nathan-Wong sent New Zealand on their way for a fourth tournament victory. And although they allowed Canada's Julia Greenshields to pull one back before halftime, New Zealand's relentless defence had the hosts rattled and they struggled to get out of their own half for large periods of the match.
