I didn't know she was still alive. She certainly was/is a real beauty. I suspected in all the films she was involved with Errol Flynn there was some connection, there was a lot of chemistry between them even if it was only emotional..... I'm just watching a movie on CHCH TV now called the Santa Fe Trail.....from 1940 Edited by Alli, Jul 3 2017, 07:38 AM.

De Havilland has filed suit against FX Network and the producer (Ryan Reynolds) of the recent BETTE AND JOAN biopic for appropriating her name and gossipy portrayal without her consent. She has always prided herself for staying completley OUT of Hollywood gossip. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/02/arts/olivia-de-havilland-files-lawsuit-over-feud-portrayal.html Edited by Trotsky, Jul 4 2017, 12:42 AM.

I didnt see it. Did she figure prominently? Was anything portrayed as derogatory to her? |

She was gossippy and there was a slight implication that she may have somehow colluded to deprive Crawford of the part in HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE, an atomic BOMB of a movie if ever there was one.<That was more than a half century ago and the thought STILL leaves a foul taste in my mouth.> But that was such a teeny part of the movie, hard to take offense. But she was portrayed by the stunning looking Catherine Zeta Jones, far prettier than deHavilland on her best day. So no complaints there. I guess Olivia just wanted to be paid for use of her persona. The BETTE AND JOAN was decent TV even if the rivalry between the two was a bit over amplified. Probably not so interesting for Gen-Y and Millennials. Both stars were sterling. |
