Listening right now to a CD recording of Manon Lescaut with Callas and de Stefano from 1959. It is, in a word, SUBLIME. SHe was at her peak and it was basically the time she left La Scala to perform on her proper stage, the WORLD. She was the greatest singer of my lifetime and I never saw her. Thank heavens for recordings Edited by Trotsky, Sep 10 2017, 06:20 AM.
