I thought reliving that period would be too difficult for me, but I am enjoying the 5 part Ken Burn's THE VIETNAM WAR on PBS. It is nothing if not thorough.
Is it being shown up North?

Anyone else watching? What do you think?

I remember a disagreement I had with Bitsy about who got us involved. I said Eisenhower, Bitsy said, not so far back, it was Kennedy. Turns out it was even farther back than I thought: it was Truman...THEN Eisenhower (secret war.)
The more I learn about Truman, the less I like him. I never cared much for Eisenhower.

I am sticking with it, despite earlier foreboding. Bob gave up mid episode 2 saying its too repetitious. I have watched three, have #4 on the DVR, and will likely enjoy the finale tonight with the oppressors running away, thoroughly and justly defeated, just like the British at Yorktown.

In am screaming at the TV every time I hear another talking head mentioning "Domino theory" or worse from top officials saying: "Of course it is unwinnable but we cannot stop." That kind of talk is for ADDICTS or serial killers.
I cannot believe that the moronic General George Westmoreland can still raise my bile.

I couldn't watch another war documentary; it's just too much like the depressing news we see every day and makes me feel helpless to do anything about it.
